One of the most Important Assets you Can Have in IM

One Word...ATTENTION.

And being able to get people's attention and maintaining it over a period of time.

Attention that you garner through fostering positive relationships, relationships that add value to other peoples' Lives. Do you have people waiting for your next email follow up or people marking on the calender when your next Blog post will be ??

NOT ATTENTION that is gained through some kind of sensationalism or shock ( although if done right that can be advantageous)

Funny, I never really thought of this one word and how poignant it can be towards approaching business and IM.

I always used other words to describe this notion, but saw someone say this a few days in a Course I was reviewing.

It sums up things pretty nicely.

One of the most powerful words for me is FOCUS.

What ever we spend our time on will expand. It has to! This is not some kind of spiritual hoodoo. Although everything 'physical' does come from 'Spirit'.

    Focus is PHYSICS.

If we focus on what we actually want and not the LACK of it, guess what happens?

    We get it.

Robert that 3rd paragraph sums it up! Well said

The fun part is: you GET attention by GIVING attention. Give attention to detail by creating in-depth, inspired blog posts. Give attention to others by responding to their Warrior Forum posts - ahem, ahem - give attention to others by commenting on their blogs and by sharing their content and it'll all flow back to you, wonderfully so, as other people will give you attention.

    Thanks for the smart share.

Five or six years ago . . . maybe 2008 . . . Rich Shefren did a two part series in much detail called The Attention Age Doctrine. It was quite popular and talked about the changes Rich saw coming in the social media explosion and how much harder it would be to get and keep the attention of prospects and customers in every market.

Not coincidentally, that was about the same time that Google started throwing its weight around and all those gurus that were pushing the build-out of hundreds of quick mini sites got crushed.

Seth Godin also covered the subject many years ago in his short but insightful books on permission marketing and getting the attention of your audience.

The concept has been around for the past 15 years and it still is critical to anyone's online success, regardless of what you peddle.

I would say being able to look at a bigger picture, look at long term goals not short term ones. Then you won't abandon anything you have started if you stumble upon some initial setbacks. But of course you must firstly believe in what you are doing and that the goals are worth pursuing in the first place.
