Traffic, lots of traffic!!

Is it possible to get traffic, good traffic without spending a ton of money or none at all? If the traffic is free, is it possible to get it without having to sit on the internet and look at ads?

I am sure that this has been posted before. If there is somewhere else I should look please point me in the right direction. I have a specific niche, well who doesn't. I struggle to find a decent way to get traffic to my site.

Thank you in advance

    Hello;

I am currently watching Eben Pagan's school of traffic program. It covers all possible sources of traffic.

You can check it out on his website "get altitude".

Check it out. It is helping me a lot, giving a lot of ideas.

    Cheers

You're right, but the OP has to work too, if he wants results. And Google is everyone's best friend when it comes to searching for "how to..." do this and that.

Reddit can drive huge traffic. See if there's a subreddit dedicated to your niche. You may be able to post links there to your content. But you have to tread very, very carefully. Do your research on Reddit marketing before you try it, or else you won't last long there at all.

Search for forums related to your niche especially ones which allow you to put a signature. Social signals are the other way. Keep your social engagements continuous with links leading back to you.

Facebook Marketing is a great free method of driving targeted traffic.

Start posting on other influencers Facebook fan pages. Most thought leaders have thousands of people engaging on their walls, and this is a great chance to leave insightful comments that will get people clicking to go to your profile.

You need to be sharing value on your own wall, and have posts that link back to your blog or wherever you want to drive them too.

This does take consistency. You have to be committed to doing this every single day, and not expect instant results.

Forum marketing would be my other suggestion.

Become a regular on the most active forums in your niche. Have a link to your blog or squeeze page in your forum signature (if it's allowed).

Follow the same guidelines as Facebook. Leave insightful posts and be consistent and you can drive a lot of targeted traffic back to your blog.

Let me tell you what I do.

When it comes to affiliate marketing, I have, over the last 2 decades, developed a regular traffic blueprint that I implement - in whole or in part - every single time I develop a new affiliate site. Once the website is fully-developed (the right kind of site that I know, from experience, is engineered to do exactly what I want), I concentrate on traffic.

    1. SEO (on site).
    2. Content Provision (frequent, predetermined intervals).
    3. Develop and grow social traffic platforms.
    4. Develop and grow offline traffic channels.
    5. Continued viral marketing campaigns.
    6. Link-Growth campaigns.
    7. A few methods I can't mention.
    8. Outsourcing.

The idea is never to treat an affiliate site as a passion project. The idea, instead, is to get it earning, get that earning optimized, and then outsource operations in order to repeat the process.

  • In order to get lots of good traffic, the best (and quickest) way is to pay a ton for it. If not that, then you will have to spend quite a bit of time on the free traffic sources which were mentioned already. Traffic is never free - you are either spending lots of money or lots of time.

It certainly it possible. I think more detail is required with regards to what you're trying to achieve (i.e. list building, video views, blog content etc) and what you currently have in place. But there certainly are ways to do this without spending a ton of money.[/QUOTE]

    Well, traffic costs.

Free traffic costs your time and paid traffic costs you money.

And you have to spend some time to master both of them.

Just stick with one you are comfortable with and master it.

It's definitely possible, but there is no shortcut to accomplish it. If you want free, high quality traffic that flows to your site naturally, you need to provide content that draws people there. Your content should be easily shareable, relevant and constantly updated. Stop looking for "marketing secrets" and just give people what they want. Then use marketing tools to increase exposure.

Traffic isn't usually the problem and here's why:

    1. Anyone can DRIVE traffic and lot's of it!

You can literally set up a paid ad on F.B., Bing Ads wherever and have
traffic coming into your business in minutes.

    2. It's knowing HOW TO SELL that counts!

Once you know how to CONVERT you can literally write your own
    paychecks!!!

    3. THEN it's time to turn on the traffic TAP and scale your numbers.

Traffic is always there for you to tap into.

    But the question is........

.......How much can you afford to pay for that traffic through your ability
    to get conversions?

    What is your A.V.V?

    Average Visitor Value?

Know your numbers and win the game!

    Absolutely.

The thing I always recommend, when it comes to 'mining' for traffic...

Is to start low, and then work your way up from there.

That allows you to gather data while spending a minimal amount.

There is no free lunch, there are no free marketing methods, and there is no free traffic. Period. At the very least, the cost is your time it takes, your computer, internet connection, etc. Even though you do not need to whip out your PayPal acct to 'buy' time from yourself, there is a very real opportunity cost. What else could you have done with that time? Perhaps something that would have generated MORE traffic?

I'm not just being pedantic - I think it an important notion to grasp and to not just blindly go about the process. You don't just want traffic, even if your business model is to sell ad space. You want the RIGHT traffic. Without the right traffic, you're screwed.

Would you rather have 50 qualified leads (people looking to buy what your are selling) visit your site, or 50,000 13 year olds with no money in their pocket? You can sell ad space with that much traffic, but I wouldn't plan on that as a sole income stream, and probably not your most lucrative, and even then, the quality of the leads you deliver to advertisers is most important, not volume.

You need to find out where your customers are hanging out, and then go market to them there (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). It sounds like an unnecessary thing (I once thought so), but I would start with making some legitimate buyer personas. If you take the time to put that together, you might be surprised about how it might help focus your attention on the traffic you want and where to get it. Quality versus quantity.

Again, you can do all of the 'free traffic generation' methods you want. But, if they are not actually a legitimate lead for you, than all they are doing is driving up your monthly server costs.

There nothing wrong with spending alot of money on paid traffic. Just increase the cost of your product(s) to help make up the loss of advertising and marketing. But there are so many ways to get traffic to your site for free. You should start with paid traffic first though in my opinion.

I personally like blogging, SEO, affiliate programs, email marketing, and forum marketing for my free marketing.

I like to create my websites just for fun. In fact my successes have come because I am passionate about the subject I am creating a website for. My failures have been because I was focused on money. A lot of people seek the easy way to try and make money their sole focus and this unfortunately will not work out for them. I can agree with that.

Come to think of it, I think I've been developing authority sites for nearly 20 years and didn't even know it. Before authority sites were a big thing. Authority sites which bring together all the elements of content alongside a keyword domain name will always get good rankings in the organic search results especially if the content is engaging and keeps visitors on the site for more than a few minutes. These will always be liked by search engines, I should know since they are what I have created for almost 20 years. I will share a few of those sites I've created:

In 1997 I built a website based upon one of my passions and that website at its peak generated an average of $20,000 a month and was within the top 100,000 websites (15 years ago), before the age of PayPal or any other online merchant services. The problem is we didn't track and there was no automation in terms of membership software or any kind of content management system like Wordpress. Everything was manually created. You have no idea how easy it is to create a website these days.

Another site I built based upon a passion in 2011 that brought together all the different aspects of content including text, audio and video as a complete authority site for a certain market. I didn't monetize until 2013. That site builds its own list, without coercion or any freebies. It also generates a nice monthly income without a great deal of input. There is a lot of content for people to engage with and it has about 3,000 to 5,000 unique visitors per day and is ranked 335,000 in the world.

One more site I built this year, based upon another passion I have yet to monetize. Within a few months it is ranking within the top 480,000 websites with a huge repeat visit and engagement. Last month it had 139,000 visits. Totally from organic search traffic and people bookmarking.

Traffic isn't the problem with any website unless you are angled within a market that is saturated. Concentrate on your content and engagement. If your site looks good, has great targeted content that keeps people on your site and of course has an amazing offer where you go out of your way to deliver (analyse everything to make it better). Don't just focus on the money, in time money will flow in. I haven't bought traffic in 15 years. I am considering it, but I know if you focus on visitor engagement you won't need to.

Someone I know, which didn't start from scratch BUT only had a Facebook page of 250,000 targeted likes to help him. He went ahead and created a news website and was able to grow it from zero to a top 20,000 website in 8 months mainly from Facebook because people have shared his content on their walls. I believe 80% of his traffic comes from Facebook and that page. The problem he has, which may not be a problem if he is waiting, is his offer. He merely has AdSense on his site. He could easily generate a fine income by using offers from Commission Junction or other affiliate network. Or he could even create a physical product and offer it to his large following, Amazon FBA seems to be all the rage right now with many people earning hundreds of thousands of dollars a month creating physical brands.

I can probably share some ideas of what you can do to build up your own site so it has engaging content giving you the opportunity for higher rankings and higher traffic without spending a fortune on traffic. It just takes time to build an authority site. If you would like any help from me, then please do not hesitate to message me.

      James,

On your websites, how much do you focus on SEO? Do you use content where everything has been done with thoroughly researched keywords in mind? Or do you just go for engaging content and let the rest take care of itself?

So long as the basic SEO is done, i.e. keyword in URL, header, first paragraph, last sentence, as well as tags and first image it should be good. However, don't over do it. Some highly optimized sites fail because it doesn't look natural. Therefore some pages don't even include the specific keyword for the site, use a similar keyword using a thesaurus. Make the content relevant and not hundreds of different topics. I am by no means an SEO expert. But, making mistakes makes it more natural for when Google comes calling. On that note, I must say this... on one of my sites I had to tell Google to stop coming so often and set its bot to one time a week late at night, it was using up huge amounts of data.

A lot of the search rankings today are to do with social engagement, so having content shared through the major social networks is a great way to send your site to the top. Also, keeping visitors on your site for more than a few minutes will also improve ranking. I am not exactly sure what the "rules" are, but keeping it natural, keeping it engaging and giving people what they want seems to always have been success in organic rankings.

One more point I must make, don't use link farms or backlinks from untargeted sources. Absolutely not worth the time. Google checks everything and especially looks at any "no-follow" links I can assure you. If you must use .edu or .gov links, make sure its targeted. Google are not stupid. If you keep your linking relevant to the content of your site, you will have no trouble keeping your ranking, if your site is engaging and valuable to the visitor.

        Regards...

Traffic mainly depends on the awareness of your Website and also several other factors.
If a good SEO is done to the Website then you can get high traffic but this strategy takes time to reflect on your rank.
Social Media can give instant results. A campaign would be helpful for the Website to get more traffic..
Pay Per Click services are used when you want to achieve higher page rank in less time..

SEO, Blog Commenting, and Video Marketing. Lots of my free traffic comes from FB, YouTube, or SEO. Takes a lot of your time, but if you don't have the money it's the way to go. You can focus your efforts of free traffic sources and then over time combine both free and paid.

You should do the SEO. You can do this work yourself. There is no cost. If you think it is no possible to do this work by you, you can hire a freelancer from any freelancing market. Then you should choose the Do-follow link more & more than the No-follow link. The do-follow link works more than the No-follow link. You can do the Relevant Forum posting, Relevant Blog commenting, bookmarking, article or some other work like these. I think you will get a good result without any cost or, a little cost. Thanks

  • SEO takes too long to rely on, but it's definitely worth setting up from the get go. You need to create content (blog/video/infographics/whatever) that people appreciate and find resourceful. If you can't do that you're doomed. What's your niche??

Driving traffic is only one piece of the puzzle.Once you start driving traffic to your website you'll soon find out you have a problem converting your traffic into leads and sales. It's all about conversions (sales) and always will be.

The secret is to generate enough profit from your website so you can put a large chunk of that profit back into buying MORE traffic. You then have the ability to scale your business to whatever you size you want. Google "self liquidating offer".

Bounce rates, and lots of them, will follow if you don't deliver value to your visitor.

Buying traffic is easy but you are not able to convert them, you lost.

    Build a game plan.

basically there is only one answer to this - "offer value"! Offer value thats not there on other websites or in a different can, the same old thing but in a better way. Just think as a user, would you want to stay on the website if theres nothing special on it? You can get lot of traffic but with huge bounce rates.. meaningful traffic if it is, look and think about some idea that offers heaps of value to its visitors.. can be knowledge, can be organised content, can be anything..

It is definitely possible to get traffic without spending any money. BUT, you have to spend a lot of TIME and energy into quality content and backlinking. If you have lots of time, you dont need to spend money.

Traffic without spending on ads ... I would say:

    - build something remarkable
    - give it away
    - work on your brand
