Default Sub Domains vs. Primary Domains

I've been playing around with autoblogs and I wanted to setup a few. But I got to thinking and decided it would make more sense to purchase one primary domain name (mydomain.com) and then have the ability to setup unlimited subdomains (abc.mydomain.com, xyz.mydomain.com) then to just purchase a new primary domain name for each blog. My question is: does using subdomains hurt the potential search ranking of the blog?

Also, are there any other potential downsides? VRE value? etc...

simple answer .. No, it will not hurt you at all but it will help boost the main domain name. Bottom line sub-domain names are very powerful and many never use them to their potential as they should ...

Hey James

Glad to see someone else shares my views on subdomains. Its a great way to get those important keywords out there in the top level.

Thanks! That's cost effective (only buying 1 domain vs many) and means I can generate SEO friendly domains for my sites on the fly. Exactly what I was looking for.

Been working lots. Just finished some long term work on a membership community.
I've been meeting some pretty interesting people over the last few months and doing site builds and rebuilds.
Just finishing a revamp on one of my own sites and I've been playing with John's Micro Niche Adsense program.

He's got a great system. Good timing since we are going into the Christmas season the micro niche stuff is hot

Keeping real busy with the ecommerce stores so I don't get a lot of time to come into the WF. I'm managing a couple of stores for other clients so we are busy getting everything prepped for the Christmas season.

How about you?

On a final thought, Each will rank differently. Be sure to interlink the pages for the spiders to follow and help index from each page.

Be sure not to duplicate content or you will be penalized.
