No stars no top posters no glory

This is an interesting and I am sure great benefit to the new upgrade...

Not only are stars gone and with it the drive to post for them...

But also when you click on members the list does not start with the most prolific posters.

This is a huge paradigm shift for many who found these features in the old forum a driving factor in posting for volume.

I found it funny to read the threads about stars today one containing a comment about how one warrior had "worked hard" as they tried to obtain more stars.

Don't get me wrong... I have an ego too (obvious statement) but overall I think this new format where rewards and accolades are bestowed by warriors rather than by posting volume will be quite beneficial to the overall quality of the content contributed to the Warrior community.

    Josh, I couldn't agree more. I think this will cut down on the number of nonsense posts and increase the number of actual quality posts being made.

    We may or may not have as much activity as we used to (remains to be seen) but I think the overall contributions will be more than worth checking out. At least that is my hope.

    I guess only time will tell.

        Hey, I used to go by the user name AUDIO. Yep, that's me, Scott Woodside.

        I tried to log in using my old username and password and wasn't recognized. Hey, its not the first time in life that's happened.

        Anyway, I'm happier using my real name. Two years ago, audio seemed to be a good user name.

        This new and improved warrior forum will be excellent! Never did like the freaking stars.

        I'd rather just be known for being able to help people by offering my feedback and information rather than trying to see how many posts I can make.

            Just realized that forum name IS the name here. Old forum had a line to add real name though you used a forum name for posting. So far at least, haven't found that here (could be I'm just missing it).

            If a picture is worth a thousand words, a name must be worth a million. Guess I really should have a photo taken one of these days....:confused:

              Giving Rep holds more weight then just stars... Stars were something that anyoen without much contribution or hlep other other could get...

              Like a person witout any skill or knowledge could get those stars .. but by adding rep you are bascially getting respect from fellow members ... which is far better then having those stars i guess .......

        No stars no problem for me, the number of posts is still there for every member and so the join date, I have always considered both of them.

        We will have to wait some time to see how the rep power will work.

          Hi Josh,

          I feel all inadequate now without my stars

          I'm just wondering whether my 4000 posts in the old forum will now not get read and people will be asking all the same questions I spend so much time answering.

          I like the new system for lots of reasons but it'll be interesting to watch now and see how people behave to get the new version of 'status'.

          I bet there will be people wondering how to try and get other warriors to vote their rep power up instead of the stars.

          It's interesting just to watch the dynamics of the way this new forum will change things.

          I just need to make sure I don't spend too much time watching

                      I am going to have to disagree for two reasons.

                      1. I think the stars looked cool. If we could have had a hybrid system whereby we use stars under the avatars that would have been pretty good.

                      2. People are saying this rep system is better. I think not.

                      You see on the odd occasion some absolute idiots grace us with their presence in this forum. These idiots work alone mostly, some of them work together and some use multiple accounts. My point being, they could "game" the rep system. They could just big up their other idiot/scammer friends. Furthermore, since rep can be given by any member for nearly anything I don't think it holds a lot of value.

                      Now if you wanted to make it to the "red star" category in the old forum you would have had to have been there for some time. And if you have survived all that time without being made "n/a" then you must have been doing something right as the warrior mods were always on top of it when it came to jerks messing around with the people on this forum.

                      My worry is that some prize dweebs earn enough rep to make themselves look legitimate to fellow warriors and newcomers.

                      Its a brave new world in the warrior forum.

        That is hilarious. It took me a few seconds to realize you had added that to your Avatar. I see why you have the "five star" General Loh ranking, lol.

        Though I think it's nice to see when people joined, posts and such; but the stars issues keeps people from posting nonsense posts. It had passed my mind, considering I was almost 1000 posts, I think I was a yellow star too, was trying to get out of that phase of yellowness, lol j/k.

        Forum is simply awesome though.
