Godaddy Host Question

I've hosted with hostgator and found it decent... I'm currently trying godaddy. (I buy domain names from godaddy...no matter what)

I've read alot about security issues with them though... should I be worried about all of that? I'm kind of nervous now to host with em.

I hosted with godaddy once and found it a horrific experience. Their main problem is their security which doesn't allow you to run a number of scripts. Also unless it's changed they don't use Cpanel

I would stick with either Hostgator or Bluehost.

Go daddy set up an awkward structure when uploading files, especially if you have more than one domain in the account with files.

GoDaddy also doesn't have the standard cPanel software installed.

They don't provide cpanel, so why would you want to change to another control panel?

Do NOT use them to host Wordpress sites or you will notice a serious lag time to load pages.

Other than that, the lack of a user friendly control panel will take up a lot of your time.

The WORST hosting company is Host Nine and if you are hosting word press sites be careful as they will just boot you off and state there terms of service allow it... This is the worst hosting company I can think of. I am not going to suggest any other to show that this is not a promo thing.... I a serious and you need to check the hosting company out before making the investment....

I'm obviously hazarding a guess here but I wonder if the reason they boot off some wordpress sites is the amount of space and usage etc they take up.

There are some plugins out there which take up a huge amount of resources etc. It's not fair on other users especially when you're on shared hosting to hog all the resources.

I'd suspect they have banned certain types of WP sites to protect the integrity of their servers.

Also, if you buy domains from GD - then you definitely shouold NOT host it with them! Never have the same company as both your registrar and host! Not good for business...

I host all of my web pages with GoDaddy and I've been really happy with them.

Their customer service is great, I have dealt with them several times and they always resolve my problem.

I often install new wordpress blogs and doing so is very easy with the web app: The Godaddy
    Hosting Connection.

    Cheers,

    Garin

That in itself is a good enough reason for you never to host there.

There's no possible advantage to registering and hosting in the same place. The downside is all too easy to understand. (Especially in the case of GoDaddy).

Purchasing a domain name costs less at godaddy compared to hostgator...But hostgator has an excellent customer support service..It is a choice..

They are the worst host ... hands down. If you haven't already purchased, I wouldn't do it. If you want another host, try hostmonster. They are nearly as good as hostmonster.

Hostmonster is great I have used them before, but Suzanne says they are almost as good as themself thats amazing. I am sure you meant as good as Hostgator.

I'm pleased with them so far. I've got 5 ASP.NET sites and had no problems.

I moved a site to them from Alentus and it worked seamlessly.

I found a 50% off voucher so I got a half price domain name the other day - very nice!

If you have a big site making $$$$'s then you're probably better off elsewhere but GoDaddy are fine for small niche sites.

used both hostgator and godaddy hosting in the past, quickly dropped godaddy.
nowhere near as nice as hostgator (and customer service less competent, at least back then)
without cpanel, it's just plain awkward...

stay away from Godaddy. They might be good with domain registration but they are below average when it comes to hosting

I do use Godaddy for my domain name registration and made the mistake of using them for my website hosting many years ago. I will never use their web hosting again.

Their servers are slow and they pack roughly 4000+ websites on every single server!

I am still happy using HostGator. I've tried a lot of different companies and just have not been able to find something better than them. I don't really have any complaints about them either. My sites run fast with very little downtime. Great customer service and I haven't experienced any of their billing issues that I hear about from other people every now and again.

I've dealt with domain names for over 10 years and have helped many clients with the nightmare of GoCrappy oops - I'm mean GoDaddy ;-)

Hosting with them is definitely very poor but in my opinion so is their domain registration.

    Let me explain...

I used to work for a NYT best selling author who had a JV partner that had a major book launch completely fail because ALL their email was blocked as spam. They lost at least half million in sales because of this.

I researched the cause and found that they registered their book launch domain with GoCrappy and the IP address of the domain was blacklisted because it was close to a known spammers IP.

Since GoCrappy sells cheap domains you get what you pay for right?

Actually yes, spammers use GoCrappy because it's cheap and blacklist organizations block IP groups to prevent spam.

GoCrappy is known to have serious problems with their email system and seem totally unwilling to fix the problems.

Go to NoDaddy.com to see... Exposing the Many Reasons Not to Trust GoDaddy with Your Domain Names.

Just do a Google search for GoDaddy sucks or GoDaddy email sucks.
