Hey, it worked in the election, didn't it?

Do you really think it is impossible to make $700 in one day? That is not exactly a world record.

I'd have to say this hypothetical person needs to take responsibility for his actions.

Anyone that broke who doesn't know what he's doing and copies a campaign from a forum thread has a fool for a client.

Where did you get the $200 figure? I didn't say anyone had to spend $200.

If money is that tight I'd advise the person to get a 2nd job first or find some other risk-free income source, if that amount of money is going to break them.

I'm talking here about adults running a business, not children. It really bugs me when people act like newbies are a bunch of brain-damaged zombies who are incapable of thinking or taking responsibility.

Anyone who can't afford to lose a set amount of money shouldn't spend that much on Adwords. It's just like buying any type of ad. You don't know in advance if it will be profitable.

You can stop the ads after spending any amount of money you want. Just watch how much clicks are actually costing, how many people are clicking through to the sales page, etc.

I don't think I've ever spent $200 on a losing campaign. I would have paused it long before that. $50 maybe, but not $200.

Anyway, it goes on a credit card, so it isn't immediate cash out of pocket, and often the money from the sales comes in before the CC bill is due.

I rather feel you have missed the point.

Not all newbies are like this, true. But from what I have seen on this thread, there is a fair few who I and others would consider vulnerable.

Impulse buying and decision making is rife when full of emotion and doesn't always lead to clear thinking or good decisions. Some marketers love this and prey on it relentlessly and THATS why so many people don't see success with their efforts. Overcome with emotions and confusion, they spend spend spend, never focus and never get anywhere.

The fact a number of new people have messaged me thanking me and admitting to some of these bad decisions and problems tells me this is a real problem and is a perfect example of why bad and inaccurate information is potentially harmful and should not really be tolerated.

Just because you have an ounce of common sense, doesn't mean others do, and we shouldn't accept the tripe being printed on this board just because it stirs inspiration up in us.

If it works... great.

However my opinion is the guy did this to get interest in the thread, look how many people have seen it and replied! (myself included).

I would just say be careful if you are thinking of trying this.

$700 by using 2 generic keyphrases on Adwords sending people through to an average sales page is something to think about, that's all I am saying...

Also if it was yourself that made this much with 2 phrases would you expand the campaign, duplicate it, build your own product or post it in the WF?

Not saying it doesn't work, but simply be careful!

All the best

Chris
