What Made You The Most Money in 2008?

I thought it would be interesting to take a poll of the people who actually make money on this forum to see what strategy or activity made them the most this year.

For me personally it was a combination of things but the one thing that made me the most was promoting products to my list (email marketing).

How about you?

Total for me was Affiliate Marketing via PPC and SEO, but as far as ROI goes it was Joint Ventures... and ROI is more important so I chose the Joint Venture option.

Site flipping, followed by niche blogs. Next year I'll be changing direction a bit and focusing more on product creation.

I am a big youtube/video marketer and my 'vehicles' of income are low cost direct sales businesses.

Over 95% of my income comes from people finding my content via my youtube videos and then joining me from there.

Photoshop and Dreamweaver. But then again, I'm a graphic/web designer by trade first and foremost.

Second in line is affiliate sales using organic search engine results from blogging.

      Exactly!

      Thank you John!

This is the bottomline of making money online or off.

      Hey Ron,

I didn't vote because i use several things combined to make money. The biggest or main thing is giving value to customers. Secondary to it is site flipping and product creation.

Flipping websites, residual revenues from several ecommerce-related services we provide, and Adsense revenues from our network of sites and blogs. All pretty much auto-pilot at this point, and 2008 was a really good year for us.

    "Other" is to broad.

So, mine is consulting/copywriting & membership sites.

    Ron,

Blogging worked the best for me. I just got tired of writing after some time. My real job was draining me and I kept falling asleep at the computer.

Creating and selling my own info products, so I chose product launches, although I make good sales off older products without any relaunching. I thank my myriad affiliates for that.

I'm surprised to see that no one has mentioned WSO's

I suppose that would fall under a marketing method and
not really a money maker - or does it?

For me - my own products - all the way. Don't let this
fool you because I am no millionaire guru Just a reg

WSOs are great lead generators with low-priced products. If they are your only money maker though, it's time to diversify.

I chose "Email Marketing" because it makes more than any "one" of the other listed methods. However, I do use them all and, "all" of the other methods "combined", are pretty much equal to Email Marketing.

I agree with you Kevin . . . WSO's are great . . . and I've purchased several of them myself . . . they are an excellent lead generator and
a wonderful testing ground for new products at a very generous price.

I myself have been blogging and using social media sites.

I am dabbling in some PPC. Gotta love the instant traffic! Although I've
found that a man can lose his shirt if he's not careful in this arena.

I didn't realize that there would be so many "Other" votes. I should have added Consulting, Copywriting, Site Flipping, Offline Services, and probably a few additional items.

It just goes to show that there are many many ways that people are making money out there. If you focus on any of these things and get good at it, you can make a full time income.

Sheesh, I'm definitely the odd man out in this thread...

I sell consumable physical products, and out of the hundreds of products folks have bought off my website, the number one seller for me this year was...drum roll please...Bubble Bath.

I've sold almost $6,000.00 worth of bubble bath in 2008.

Just doing my part cleaning up this planet one person at a time, I guess.

PS - I sure hope this doesn't ruin my 'tuff guy' image

I'm another who made most from my own physical products this year (custom LEGO sets), though I have now made my last batch of those and moving to things I can make "hands off" and scale. Other money earners were freelance work for others and affiliate marketing of physical products.
