Yeah, that's what I was going to say. The set up is fine, but I think you need more "background".

I agree that the page is too wide, however, I am no professional either. I honestly think it looks good besides the wideness.

As one who really likes the wide site look (my monitor is a 32" LCD widescreen) my two suggestions would be 1) add just a touchof color to the background, some kind of pastel maybe, and 2) the banner at the bottom of the page ought to be clickable. my two cents.... Terry Power |

I agree with all of the above advise. But, if you use a background color/graphic, consider some thin-lined boxes with white backgrounds around a few of the smaller sections to help break-up the space. But you have done the most important thing, you got started. Congratulations, Scott |

A few things... You can increase conversion, from what I see... by a LOT. Get the top header out (make it the title) Make the second one the intro head Make the long headline bigger and make it CC0000 with the red words black... put it in quotes take out the image on the side take out the links on the left jsut to name a few ![]() if you want any more help, etc. just shoot me a pm! |

Not to sound mean or anything, but: 1. The website looks cheap. It looks like it took you 20 minutes to set up (actually looks like from the late 90's). 2. It looks like you didn't even care to incorporate a good picture. Most graphic designers (with the style of picture you have), would make a 'white' background. But it looks like you were too lazy to find anything that matched, so plopped in the first image you found. And actually, the image looks kind of wierd, it actually reminded me of obama, and looks like Obama is trying to kiss some kid, which is just strange. 3. It's too wide. Those are a few of the things off the top. Things done right: 1. Well, since it is your first attempt at a website, it's not bad. |

Too wide - solve that first The "video" area looks wrong - there a bit of a cutoff and the text seems to overwrite itself a bit. For the links on the left - if they are affiliate links you might want to have a page just for "Special Reports" where you give the link and also a short synopsis to create interest (think of it as a mini review) That would help reduce the size - you could also link to the page for "Special Reports" in the text on the home page, too. I'd say max width of 900 px with muted or dark color border on both sides. Either make the top line into a header by giving it a colored background or make it a bit smaller and use it as your headline. Good job so far - especially if this is your first site. kay |

What is the purpose of the site? What do you want to achieve with it... that's what you should figure out first and we can take it from there.

You've definitely got a great foundation set - and the content is great. I think with a few aesthetic touch up's via some css would do you wonders! Good luck.

You're definitely on the right track Gary but i also think it's a tad too wide. Another thing that i notice is that there doesn't seem to be a headline that jumps out at me when i land on the page, you have one on the left at the top and then a red one in the center with several sub heads under that. I think create a bold headline that catches peoples attention and leads them into the sales letter All in all, great job and you only need a few minutes to to make it top notch! |

Way too wide - while I hate all those sites with their little narrow strip of content, still catering for users with Win95 and 800x600 monitors, the vast majority of web visitors are on 1024x768 or greater now. However your site is just too wide for that and doesn't dynamically scale, so reduce it. I felt no interaction with the site at all, in fact I closed it before remembering I was going to review it. The bit about loading slowly because it's such a big and popular site is more cheesy than a block of cheddar - kill it. The site does not make it clear WHO it is aimed at - and just how many people are "searching endlessly for information concerning relationships"? The "reporting" element made me think it was some kind of "Spy on your spouse and see what they're up to" kind of thing, but looking closer it seems to be an attempt at being an authoritive portal on relationships (and fails due to technical stuff like text overlapping the videos, the cheesy bit mentioned earlier, the width etc). No site could be popular without you already having a lot of feedback on that kind of thing, so it just makes it obvious you're lying to make up for a slow hosting account. I still haven't clicked a link on there - your call to action is to "get started" (doing what?) by reading "top stories". What top stories? Yeah relationships but what, success stories, failure stories, fiction, case studies, erotica, what? I can't be bothered to click as I have no idea what's there but strangely I feel there won't be anything "top" about them. "500 lovemaking tips" is the only thing that stands out as almost clickable but even that is too damn vague. Tips for making love under X conditions, overcoming Y problem and so on could be individual articles but who has time for 500 vague tips? There's no real call to action, no sense of having found what I was looking for or even imagining what search would find that site. Don't adjust it, start again from scratch. Think WHO is the site for, what is their pain or problem you can solve, then introduce yourself, build some credibility and tell em what they'll be missing if they don't take the next step. and tell em what that step is! Hope that helps ![]() B. |

Your sign up box is, on my monitor at least, below the fold. You need to move it up so that visitors don't need to scroll to see it/reach it.

Not bad for a first attempt. It does not look web 2.0. You have a opt-in form on every page right? It's time to test the response with some visitors! 400-500 of them will give you a good idea on how they will respond. All The Best To You & Yours!! TL Ps. Grab the free $250 in adwords coupons and use it the learn google's site placement system on google's dime - not adwords. See this today's forum post from a fellow warrior. Pps. Do you have a free report to give away to people that may want to opt-in? I don't remember, but it will increase your opt-ins dramatically. |

Not bad at all. The layout suggestions above are good. I would also change your copy. I would eliminate the top black heading altogether and reword the "scoop" line. Also this following needs changing: Are you tired of searching endlessly for information concerning relationships? Do you want to find everything you are looking for in one place? Now You Can! Welcome to relationshipreporting.com. Learn how our team of experts has done all of the groundwork for you. We promise this will be the last stop for any of your relationship needs. Check out these Top Stories to get you started. This is really all about you and your site. You need to talk about the visitor more. Saying things like "we promise this will be your last stop..." etc is pretty useless and lame. Get more punchy and really push someone's buttons. Writing something like this: "Some of the most upsetting, truly tear jerking moments in one's life occur when a relationship falls apart and the pain really takes hold. How many times have you literally felt heart broken and had that burning lump in your throat when you realised your relationship was over? The intense feeling of loss and emptiness. If only you could turn the clock back. If only you knew then what is available on this website." Anyway, I just banged out that headline without really giving it too much thought. With some work you could really, push some buttons and create an emotional reaction in people. THEN you may make some sales. I hope this helps. |

Hi Gary, I agree with many of the above suggestions. You might consider trying to add a more powerful headline, How Not to Lose the Emotional Magic in Your Relationship. Obviously, I'm not a copywriter, but the idea is to add a fear to loss. Otherwise, great job on getting started! Regards, Phil |

This is just my opinion, but the male and female symbols look really tacky and out of place. They're also making the page wider than it should be. My advice would be to give them the nix. They're just not needed.

Hi. Thought that your first video didn't seem to grab my attention. Perhaps you are trying to be everything to everyone. The topics that you mention might centre around relationships but there are in my humble opinion too differing to really convince any one group that you have the answer to their problem. Sure, you have heaps of content which could be optimised and monetized if you do your seo and marketing well. That front page, I guess needs a lot of work. I would say it needs to be simplified. Put a search bar in there maybe. I'm sure you'll find heaps of people to give you advice here. all the best. Phil |

First of all let me say I think that you did a great job for your first attempt you are on the right track so congradulations. Secondly, you need to decide what your trying to accomplish with your landing page. If you are trying to capture leads than that should be the only option either opt-in to get some info or leave. From there you can redirect your subscribers to the information that they desire. Third each link leads to another opt-in form I would not stay long if I had to opt-in to each page to get more information. It is unclear if am I subscribing for a newsletter or a free e-book and suppose I wanted to download all of your information I would not want to subscribe to 15 different lists to browse the information. Finally, I think that maybe you should narrow down your market. Pick a niche and provide quality information along with some sort of magnet to get subscribers instead of trying to be everything to everybody it just to distracting. Keep up the Good Work To your Success |

As for basic layout, it just seems too "white". I think there needs to be some contrast, perhaps a different shade for the header background, a different shade for the sidebar, etc. It just sort of looks like a big bowl of milk. I think a little color would make a big difference. |

I am slowly but surely starting to incorporate the suggestions offered above. I still have to tackle the all important width issue. It seems that is the most difficult thing for me to do. I need to figure out how to change the format of each page so that I can get the content to fit, say in a 1024 x 768 format. I am having trouble with my site editor in doing this. Again, I really appreciate the input here. After all we are all trying to make sales. I take all that is offered constructively and never personally. Business is business. With all of your help, I can start being more successful sooner rather than later. It's time for me to take a break... my brain hurts. Gary, if you are hand-tweaking each page to change the width, you are setting yourself up for maintenance headaches down the road. What tools are you using to do this?

As previous posters have stated put the text in a <div> or table. Get rid of the "Relationships and Dating News" headline and put something that will grab peoples attention. Try putting the movie on the left side of the page below the headline and the opt-in box on the right. Make the background color different than the page color. Just a few things to think about. |

Fellow Warriors, I thought I might mention that this website is a Conduit site, made famous by Chris Rempel here at the forum. This might explain some of the dynamics of the site. I am still working on it, constantly fine tuning based on everyones generous suggestions. The headline is confusing. And you need a more compelling offer to get people to sign up to your list. Also, what's the point of this page? Do you want people to opt in? Do you want to sell your featured product? What is the one thing that you most want visitors to do? |

It lacks any content or affiliation with Dr. Paul Dobransky M.D. (doctor paul dot net), so by default the advice doled out is pure garbage.
