I know in many posts here it is said that it is better to put your best content on your site. Is it still worth it posting articles directing back your main site? Ezine articles has taken a hit because of panda..the thing is with articles directories your articles don't stick. They may be on page one in a certain position for a few days but then it drops. Im just wondering if its worth it posting to directiories anymore to get traffic? (and sales).. If it is then probably I will outsource my writing as google is looking for good quality content now..Or is ezine still a good option? If not what is?

I still find it beneficial to post articles to ezinearticles. I really don't change the article much from the original version posted on my site. I do shorten the article, but I don't rewrite the rest. Then come up with a bio box that I hope will entice a click. The whole process only takes a few minutes.

Once it's live, I then send it to another 20'ish article directories without changing it at all.

I don't do it as much for the traffic or the sales as for the backlinks. I do get some initial burst of traffic from at least the ezinearticles versions and trickles of traffic afterwards but what I like best is the other sites that pick up the articles (syndication) and the additional backlinks I get through those sources. I just checked one of my pen names and out of 119 articles, 228 were picked up by other publishers. Gotta love those backlinks! Fast, free, and from related sites.

Thats actually a really smart way of going about publishing content. What are the other 20 directories you use other than ezines? Goarticles? ...? I've got some content on my site right now that I'd like to promote and the idea of not rewriting it completely appeals to me hahahah Especially since I'm looking for some good links back to my site.

        Here are the 20:

        goarticles
        articlesbase
        articledashboard
        articlealley
        articleclick
        articlecity
        amazines
        easyarticles
        articlepool
        articlesnatch
        articlemotron
        carolinaarticles
        articlemark
        sooperarticles
        a1articles
        freearticlesinc
        ezine9
        ezinemark
        articlerich
        articlebiz

I have to switch it up sometimes depending on the length of the article and the niche but this list is a good start.

Once it's up on ezinearticles.com, you can mostly copy and paste the article and bio box right into the other directories. Just might have to format the links in the bio box but I usually have a notepad file open so I can copy and paste that, too.

It's a fast way to blast out some decent backlinks.

        Good luck!

          Thanks for this list.
I find the best way is to write a Blog Post, then post it on Article Directories. I then submit the same article to social media sites using Onlywire.
          I think it works well.

I agree with Sojourn, article submission is still a must. I do make sure when I submit my articles they are over 40% unique though.
As for other publishers picking them up, its great because it does build you back links and that helps your website all round.
Posting to article directories still and I can not see it changing in the near future, brings a lot of free traffic.
Visitors make money. Google and other search engines are looking for content but also they are taking some of their ratings now from social media sites as to how popular your site is. I think this is way wrong personally.

Are you saying that you use other people's articles to write yours? I'm not really sure you realize how phrased your statement.

Still posting articles in various PR websites have great importance for a particular website. Google says- "Content is king". If you can add a blog theme in your website and update that on regular basis then your website importance will be high. Google will crawl your website regular basis if you add fresh contents.

That's a good thing, not a bad thing, KB.

Nobody would want their own site to be outranked by an article directory for its own keywords, would they? And more specifically, in this context, nobody would want the EZA copy of an article being in Google's main index and the original copy on their own site being only in the supplemental index.

Fortunately, Google's "Panda update" has done us all the favour of making that problem even less likely than it ever used to be.

To get traffic?! Good heavens, no: of course not. That hasn't been worth doing for a couple of years. And especially not now, after the "Panda update". But who would want to "get traffic" from an article directory?! You'd lose most of it, wouldn't you? "I have a 25% click-through-rate from XYZ article directory" is just another way of saying "I lose 75% of my traffic at XYZ article directory". :p

There's no point in trying to use article directories for their own traffic. Clearly one wants the traffic coming to one's own site. But that was never why article directories existed in the first place - that (and their virtually-worthless, non-context-relevant, PR-0 backlinks) are not what they're there for, at all.

EZA is a brilliant article directory - the best. But you need to publish all your articles on your own site first and use EZA for its correct purpose, as an article directory, a depository of content for webmasters and ezine/newsletter compilers to syndicate. It's possible this current thread may interest you.

Anyone considering submitting to any other article directories will also perhaps find many/most/all of the following stuff informative and helpful ...

In this excellent little article an expert writer/marketer explains "duplicate content" to perfection.

This one explains a lot of stuff about "spinning" and why most professional article marketers think it's a waste of time, and based on fallacies and mistaken beliefs about "duplicate content".

This one explains why it's seriously bad news to create backlinks to article directories.

This one explains a bit more about article directories and writing for syndication.

This one is about "unique content" and a bit about link-juice, I think.

This one is about writing for syndication.

And lastly, this very good but very long thread explains in detail why it's essential to publish articles on your own site first, before submitting them anywhere else (and a lot of the indicental chat in it also answers countless other "basic article marketing questions").

Quality matters in everything so your content on the website should be of high quality so that it can be indexed in search engine quickly. And beside this getting back links from quality content gives your good PR.
