Does anybody actually use QR codes?

There have been a number of WSO's about QR Codes, but does anyone actually use them?

Here's an article published today on CNN Money/Fortune that discusses a few of the stats and challenges: Does anybody actually use QR codes? - Fortune Tech

Have you found much interest in QR Code use?

Here in South Korea QR codes are huge. I don't know an actual percentage but I would say that smart phone usage is quickly approaching 50%.

I am launching an offline campaign here targeting woman's university's and considering that their usage is probably pushing 75% it would be foolish not to have a QR code on the ads.

Interesting article, thanks for sharing that

While QR Codes offer great potential to those who know how to use them, few people understand the value or the how.

Being a street performer I have still to actuate my idea of a banner with QR code on it which will take people to an optin video. To subscribe to my web based tv magazine show. Also one for my YouTube FaceBook and twitter account/ channels.

I think QR codes are underused, and represent a great opportunity for lead capture as well as sales.

I think they should be strongly considered for every marketers toolbox. Until they have hit the tipping point they are unique and curiosity will drive their usage, as they pass the tipping point and become more in mainstream their usage will increase but any advantage you had early in their adoption will be diluted. Either way they are here to stay so use them now while they are ramping up...

      Cheers!

I rarely resist scanning a random QR code when I see one. I think they are a great tool. Especially for attracting a specific demographic of tech savvy users.

They're taking off massively here. And business owners are definitely interested in their potential.

Just the other day in our local newspaper, in the Homes For Sale section, one estate agent was using a QR code for every single property description with no images at all of the properties themselves. Which I think is a major mistake, the QR codes should be complimenting the property photos not replacing them altogether, but there we go. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink it.

They'll live and learn. It's not a replacement, it should be used (in this instance) as a compliment of their existing marketing channels or route/s to market.

      Best,

I read the article on CNN and it just confirms that QR Codes are here to stay. It has great potential but will take some time to catch up with the main stream mobile phone users. It does happen with all new systems or technologies.

I've started to notice a decent increase in traffic to my QR Code Shirts website. More people are discovering them and trying to get information on QR Codes, but I wish more would start buying them.

QR code becomes very useful, even invaluable when your prospects are tech savvy. But the other way round, it can turn really nasty.

QR codes are a great offline tool to use, on banners and business cards. Makes it a lot easier for someone with a cell phone to find you, but i have seen some used on web pages and that's just a down right waste there.
