I have several keyword research tools that I routinely use for ferreting out new niches and such. I am looking for someone on the WF who is even better at this than I am (that would have to be very good). Who is generally acknowledged as the keyword expert here? I need a moment of their time.

Tom, as you well know, niche research is common sense. Think like a prospect.
What would they look up when looking for a solution to a problem? The way I handle it is pretty basic but effective. I start with a broad phrase (not too broad) and then work my way down from there. For example, let's say I'm looking for acne treatments. I'll start with that, plug it into Wordtracker and see what results come up. Then, let's say I find "natural acne treatments". I'll then click on THAT result and see what related results there are to that. And then I'll go back to the original list and keep going down the list, checking out each more targeted keyword that I find to see what additional long tail keywords I can find. It's methodical, tedious and quite dull, but it's effective. At least it works for me. |
