How long did it take you to get to $100 a day?

I think this is a really common long-term goal. However, it's common because it seems like a really good goal. I mean, it's realistic. It's not talking about $50,000 a month or anything crazy like that (although the sky is the limit with IM). It's simply about $3,000 a moth.

Sure some days will be higher, some will be lower, but it averages out to $100 a day.

How long did it take you to get there?

Was it difficult to stay there?

Alas, most importantly, what business model got you there? Were you doing an authority site, or multiple smaller sites? Was it adsense, Amazon, or CPA?

Please excuse me for sounding like someone who want's to be spoon-fed. I'm not asking you to divulge your niches or go into detail, but simply to give myself and others an idea of what to expect, and which route is most effective.

Thank you to any and all who contribute to this thread.

I have not reached $100 a day yet. But, I would think that in order to reach this you need to go with Amazon sites or something similar. It would take way too many sites to reach this goal with Adsense. Right now I may get to $10 a day with adsense alone.

It took me about 6 months to start making $100 + a day and that was about 5 years ago.

I started earning money once I stopped buying IM products and after taking massive actions on what I had already learned.

My main focus back then was to build small niche sites and that's exactly what I did... some of those niche sites have now turned into massive authority sites that get thousands of visitors per day.

There are many ways to make money online you just have to find what works best for you and all you have to do is focus and perfect that method. After you do this it becomes much easier because all you have to do then is replicate and expand.

Too damn long. Months and Months. Too much reading about bull**** method A, B, C, etc. and not enough time taking action. There's no short cuts. Just bite the bullet put your head down do the work and the money will follow. A good mentor doesn't hurt either.

I don't remember how long it took me. It was a long time. I know that for sure, but I was in a long contract so I had time to learn it before the "internet lifestyle" could be lived.

I will say that I've had long-term consistency (income) for some things for years, others come and go fast.

I've made way way more than that, and less too.

I've done pretty much every model out there.

To me driving traffic is fun. And makes a lot of money too (if you're really good at it at least).

But when it falls it falls fast.

In my opinion if you're focusing on longterm you should be building out your own business so you can sell backend products and you have a list. So if your traffic dies for a while you're not out in the cold.

It took me about almost two years, first year included a whole lot of learning,

While the second year was all about implementation and taking action!

PAID TRAFFIC is what got me there, along with list building.

    Best of luck!

I first got to consistent $100 days with small membership sites. Those sites are building lists at the same time, and it just goes up from there.

But, the underlying thing that got me there was figuring out something that worked, and doing it over and over again- small membership sites are just one of a hundred things you could do.

When people say there is no short cut that is true, but that doesn't mean it cant happen fast. I mean if the 1st day you started IM you found a great mentor who coached you in one area you would be making money in 1-3 months with a good knowledge base to move forward from. Then you could really take your business anywhere you want. Its all the marketers out there that sell push button software to make millions that put off newbs for months or even years before they wise up to the whole "scam" products and realise its a set plan and action thats going to get them a foot in the door

I started when I was 13, and got over $100/day consistently when I was 17. So it took me 4 years.

About 22 years. I had to grow up and go to college first.

Seriously; I've been involved in three startups and started two of my own. The average time to profitability is usually about six months. If you can't launch in six months, the idea probably isn't very good. That was the case with two startups I was involved with. It took an extra three months to massage the idea into something workable.

So, in all five cases it was less than a year. The fastest was about three months.

$100/day is a pretty weird measure. Once you hit profitability with a dot com, you are going to be paying yourself quite a bit more than that. Even before you hit profitability, you generally pay yourself at least $250/day or so out of the venture capital. You still have to pay the mortgage and feed yourself.

Still on my way to the $100/day limit... right now I'm focusing on NOT buying any new products or ebooks, just do what I know will work. Dabbling with YT videos and affiliate sites.

Took me about a week or two, but that was back in 2002, and things have changed. I with literally $0, and a small digital cam. Wen't to a local computer store where a chinese gentleman was selling computers. I took a few photos of a couple of them (the monotors were huge back then!), posted them as an offer on eBay, sold in my first week, told the customer to put the money into my personal savings account (other side of the country, I was in Sydney, they were in Perth!). Took the money once it came through, went and bought the computer, with THAT money, put it on the back on my motorcycle, and sent it off! Those were exciting early days... that was until discovering the wonder of selling digital products! (first profit was a about $250, was selling 2-3 a week, back then computers were more expensive too)

For me, just a few weeks. A friend of mine, with a big list and good reputation on another IM forum, helped me promote my own product. My first $100 day was also my first $1000 day. After that it just snowballed.

Unless you have money to spend on advertising, it will most likely take a while. If you have a service to sell (programming, designing, high quality article writing) you can of course reach $100 a day pretty fast. But if you go the route of SEO it's going to take you a year or two. It all depends.

Wow, thank you all for your great input. It's nice to see that there are people who are doing the $100 a day (and some a lot more). What I think really stands out to me is everyone has his or her model for generating this.

It isn't like everyone is doing Adsense, or Click Bank, or Amazon. It really demonstrates one of the things that so many here say so often, and that is to be consistent.

All of your responses demonstrate how if you are consistent with your method, keep learning about it, and refine your techniques with it until you master it, you can succeed with almost any model (though I'm sure some are better than others).

One thing that I noticed came up a lot in the discussion was building a list. It makes sense. Instead of each sale being 1 sale, a list gives you the potential of turning it into 3 or 4 sales.

Thanks for the great advice, everyone. Keep it coming!

It all depends on what you want to do in IM. SEO PPC or just provide service of link building. You can even create WSO and start making that money. I like saying trow sh*t to the wall and see if it sticks,if does why not to repeat ? Scale things up to make more money.

Yes, I agree. I think, for many people (in "the West") it's something of a benchmark figure because it kind of represents an awareness that "it's actually going to be possible to make a full-time living from it", doesn't it? That was how I felt about it, anyway.

Once you've got from $0 to $3,000 in a month, you know it's "going to work".

I'd started doing this with a view, specifically, to "being able to make a full-time living from it" and not needing to get a job when I finished university.

Yes, exactly so; but $3,000 per month is a far more realistic way of looking at it than $100 per day.

    Five months, give or take.

But for the first three and a half months of that, I earned very close to zero.

No, trivially easy, in fact - to my surprise and relief. Once I'd had my first $3,000 month, it was all gradually growing and improving from there. I'd avoided "rinse and repeat" models of internet marketing, and avoided being dependent on Google, so (with hindsight, though I didn't know enough to understand this at the time) I was unlikely to have any serious accidents once I'd got that far. It was just a question of adding and building.

This one (but on a much less confident and much smaller scale, at the start, of course).

Originally Posted by amarketing View Post

I was getting my articles widely syndicated, and had a small site (must have started off my second one around that time), and was selling a couple of ClickBank products and building lists. It took time.

You don't. You sound realistic about it.

Originally Posted by amarketing View Post

That route was most effective for me, because I was technophobic and incompetent, hated SEO and considered it an unwise and precarious approach (I got that part right, anyway!), didn't want to be Google-dependent, didn't want to spend any money to get started, wanted gradually to build real residual income (rather than just "rinse and repeat" income - so that I got a gradual increase in monthly income all the time from work already done and was building up a real asset-based business) and so on and so forth. But the one skill I did bring to my own table was the ability to write articles that people actually wanted to read and to share with others. Without that, I couldn't really have done it at all. So article marketing was a no-brainer for me (once I realized that it has nothing, intrinsically, to do with SEO at all but is a traffic-generating method in its own right - took me a while to learn that!). It all depends on your own skill-set, though.

I can't recall when I initially hit $100 a day the first time, but it usualy takes me 1-3 months each time I try a new method to hit that mark. It also depends on if I'm buying traffic, and how much I'm spending on it.
