What Do You Do To Stay Healthy as An IMer?

When you're online all day working your online business what do you do to keep healthy?

It's easy to ignore yourself and focus on the computer, but by sitting there all day gazing at the screen your health can deteriorate without even noticing.

I can get so focussed on a project, that I forget to eat, or forget to get out and have a life sometimes.

So, I'm interested to find out what my fellow warriors do to keep in shape.

Do you have a cut off point?

Do you make sure you workout before before jumping online?

I'd love to get your feedback on this.

I walk fast to get my heart rate up for at least 45 minutes at least 5 days a week. I do 3 sets of 12 squats at least 5 days a week.

I make sure to eat at least 5 servings of fresh or frozen with nothing added to it, fruits and veggies everyday. I watch sodium content on all foods to keep it below 1500 mg a day and hardly ever eat prepared foods or fast foods.

Wow, you seem very self disciplined. That is a great trait. I'm going to start walking too.
    Are you online full time?

My main source of exercise is playing hockey. Usually two or three times a week I play games at a fairly high level and focus on nothing but the sporting task at hand for a little while. It's great fun, clears the mind of work clutter, and is an excellent way to socialize as well since it's such a team game. Most of my closest friends are people I've played on a hockey team with at one point or another.

I also like to go on long bike rides anywhere there is water as I find it calming as well. Same with the occasional day hike or overnight camping trip.

Lastly I do a lot of meditation which I feel leads to an extremely healthy and open mind. I do this mostly for my other work as a trader but it flows over into all my businesses and personal relationships as well. Well worth the time invested.

As for my eating patterns, I followed paleo principles for about four years and got extremely lean and felt great. I now have started to shift more in the direction of eating in line with the research of Ray Peat (look up his work, it's fascinating) and I feel even better. I can't remember ever having the energy levels I have now, even 10 or 15 years ago when I was in my teens.

One of the first things I learnt when I got into Internet Marketing seriously was to exercise for at least 45 minutes daily - Keeps your energy at optimum levels and helps you look good and feel good :-)

    Hope this helps

    1. Focus on the diet. Make sure you're getting everything you need (and for me a little extra as I'm trying to gain weight).

    2. Breaks. You can't spend the entire day in front of the computer. You're ruining your body.

    3. Walk Everywhere. If I can get there on foot, I go for it. This gives me a good baseline of physical activity and gets me outside for at least an hour or two everyday. Getting some sunlight and fresh air is definitely worth it.

I go to the gym to keep myself active and healthy. You would feel more energized after doing them and I need all the energy that I need if I have to do this all day.

My day job is a personal trainer! I eat healthy , exercise almost twice daily, and never take life too seriously.

Snacks on fruits, veggies, and nuts throughout the day. Keep carbs complex, and foods nutrient dense.

I go online and work for 2-3 hours each morning. Then I take the dog for a 45-60 minute walk. We do this 6 days a week. Nothing beats the fresh Colorado air for a Rocky Mountain High.

I wouldn't say I'm healthy at the moment, lol. Being at home though, it's not to hard to prepare healthy meals. I think the most important thing is to get off your ass. Sitting throughout the day increases your risk of many health complications so all you internet marketers better start taking frequent breaks to get up and walk around the house!

    - Never be "online all day working". 5 hrs of productive work is fine.
    - Take a break every 2 hrs, walk around, drink a cup of water, eat a small meal.
    - Never work where you live. You can't escape work this way. Try to leave your laptop @ office, don't take it home.
    - You definitely need to include exercise & fun activities in your day.

I do a 30 minute workout *most* mornings!!

I also do sun salutes daily..

I make sure I see friends at least twice a week..

I like to eat as healthy as possible.. This sometimes doesn't happen when I put a big day in online, forgetting to eat and then find myself starved and raiding the fridge!!

Its very simple to lead a health and happy lifestyle even you have to sit in front of computer more than eight hours.

First, just be sure to refresh your eyes, blink a lot, and view a blue color, trust me it works.
Second, let your body feel relaxed, don't be so uptight,
Third, take a walk in your nearest park when your head is hindering your neck. You should walk around to change the mood, 15 minutes is enough.

I think this is one of the good ones out there. Be sure to play at least one sport. I myself play tennis everyday despite that I have to work online for 11H a day.

Gyms and exercises get boring after few months but playing sports will always be fun and challenging. You won't realize it but you're actually exercising everyday.

I speed walk for 90 min 7 days per week and weight train for 3 days per week.

I eat clean year round. Clean means if you can't pick it off a tree or bush, pull it up out of the ground, spear it out of the ocean or chase it down and kill it I don't eat it.

Yes, that means: no soda, cake, candy, tv dinners, ice cream, chips, sugary sauces like BBQ sauce, no fast food at all. Basically no man made garbage.

My macro nutrient profile is 40% protein 40% carbs 20% natural fats.

    Hi Shantelle,

I got stuck in the rut of always sitting behind my computer and making excuses for not doing exercise. I had always been relatively fit and healthy until I got caught up with IM.

I started doing the Abs Diet workout early this year which takes about 35 minutes per day and I have lost 16cm off my waist. I feel more energetic and my back is really feeling good.

In short - drink plenty of water, do cardio exercises at least twice in a week, exercise between work gaps ( 15-20 min of walking works best! ) and well you know, eat healthy. If you're going to eat pizzas and drink coke everyday sooner or later you gonna feel bad and your IM job gonna become nightmare ( sitting on chair and working lol. ) Good luck to all marketers maintaining their health

Read THE ZONE diet and do all the workout excersice in morning before any IM activity. That'll "keep you in shape" but also giver you more money and more energy.

Read the 4 Hour Body and take his diet.

That's what I do and it's the best thing you can imagine!!!

As mentioned a few times, its not all about exercising daily or numerous times a week at high levels but it is your diet you need to watch.

So long as your diet is good and your intake is not high in salts, sugars and processed foods you should be fine with moderate exercise in terms or jogging, walking, walking the dog, walking to the shops, gardening and another thing I have taken up recently which will help in the long run is taking he stairs everywhere as opposed to escalators and elevators!

In most workplaces you are encouraged to take an hour lunch, which people tend to use to eat lunch and then socialise for a little bit with colleagues.

Working online you set your own lunch breaks, so what I try to do is eat at my desk, but always try to take a full hour, and instead of just sitting around like I would in a normal office I'll spend an hour going for a short bike ride, or a run (less often). This is great for getting outside so you're not stuck in front of your screen all day and is a great form of excercise.

In the evenings I like to play tennis once or twice a week, for competitive excercise and a little socialising!
