Hello there to all my fellow warriors. Particularly you highly successful sellers of offline WSO's!

My name is Mike and I've been a member of this forum for nearly 3 years. I'm 46 years old and have no more than a high school education. I've considered the vast amount of knoweledge I've attained here to be my university education I never got in the "real world".

I've purchased countless wso's during this time on just about every subject on "make money online/offline" that's come through this forum. Most of them I have felt were terrific and certainly learned a great deal from them and several others were, unfortunately, complete garbage.

Now, the reason I've started this thread today is that I've suddenly found myself in a rather dire situation and this forum has now become far more important to me that it ever has before.

You see, I'm the sole caregiver for my sick father. We survive on the wages I earn from working 10-12 hours a day and the pittance we get from dad's ssi. For the past 4 years I've averaged about 4 hours sleep a day, while working my blue-collar job, caring for my father, and, for the past 3 years, getting my "education" here.

Unfortunately, I just havn't been able to put all the pieces of this "education" I've received together yet to finally make a success of myself and make life far easier for myself and my wonderful father. And now we're about to find ourselves in dire straits.

I've recently been informed I'm no longer going to be employed at my job of 10+ years. I'm, yet another, casualty of this horrible economy. A week from this friday my hours will be cut dramatically and by Christmas I will no longer be employed. My father and I barely get by on what we have coming in now, so, I can't imagine how we're going to get by on his ssi and my pittily unemployment checks that are going to eventually run out anyway.

The job market for a 46 year-old with a high school education is, to say the least, scant. I've sent my resume to everyone of those opportunities that has arisen, but, have had no one, so much as, ask me to come in for an interview.

So, now I'm turning to you all here in this forum. The reason I chose to title my thread "An open challenge to all offline marketers" is because that's exactly what this is. A challenge to you (wrapped in a plea for help).

My challenge is for anyone of you successful offline marketers and best-selling authors of wso's to take this fellow warrior, in a dire situation, under his wing and teach him step-by-step as your doing it, basically, day 1 this what we're doing and why, day 2 this is what we're doing and why, day 3 and so on, how to land offline clients within days.

Every single wso I've ever bought on this forum says, something to the effect of, "follow my system EXACTLY and you will land your first check in as little as 24 hours!". Well, and I'm sure there are many reasons for this, I've implemened just about every wso I've purchased on this subject EXACTLY as I was instructed and still have never landed a single client. And, believe me, I can "talk the talk", I actually do have some sales experience in my past.

I'm looking to be the ULTIMATE testimonial of a future wso. Imagine, the kind of sales you'll make with a wso that features my story and how you took me under your wing and made a success of me practically overnight! I know I'd buy it!

It'd be the first offline wso ever to feature an actual student, that hadn't had any success in 3 years here on the forum, showing everyone the money he's finally making because he found you. You could also show them this thread as "the original thread that started it all".

Well, I guess that's about it. I'd just like to say that I know I'm a good student and now that my back's against the wall, like never before in life, I will work harder than you can possibly imagine and I will follow your direction to a "T" if you decide to take me up on this challenge. I WILL be the best student you've ever had!

My father and I will be eternally grateful to you if you were to take me up on this challenge and play an instrumental role in helping to improve our lives immensely. Thank you for listening.

Thank you very much for responding to my "plea"! Yes, absolutely, I would love to talk. Just let me know what works for you. Personally, I'm still an old-fashioned talk on the phone kind of guy, but, I am on skype and do have an external microphone, though I've never used it to talk on skype yet. Thank you for the kind words. It is a pretty rotten time for this to happen to us.

Trust me, within 2 hours someone will say "Yes. I need a website", and you can set an appointment to go out and see them. There are people here who will design the website for you.

In that same two hour period you could easily score 3-4 appointments instead of just one, but at least one.

Hang on I will post a link to a free report for you to show you how I did it myself, that aught to work for you. Many others have read it and made thousands in sales within days... Its up to you really. Your situation isnt insurmountable.

This is producing 50% of my income right now and works FAST. You are going to be scared and shake and screw up for a bit but once you get in the groove I bet you can close 50% of the people you talk to.

As a note, it is almost never the only service I sell them. Once I have the conversation going is when I can really see what they need. The website thing merely gets their attention.

Another piece of advice from personal experience is to always be thankful for what you have. I mean so thankful you could almost cry with the emotion of it. I dont know why this works but each day I do this, something magical happens the next day. Won $500 in our kid's school raffle unexpectedly doing this last week. Also made more this month both online and offline than ever before. I am back to my old work my butt off for someone else income level.

says it all. How do I know? I own an insurance agency. Cold calling built us from zero clients to over 1200 clients in less than 2 years. That's not counting the number of people who were with us for only a month or two. I don't know if you are good at building websites but if you aren't just ask the 200 numbers if they ______. It'll work believe me.

Second, besides being a member here and the TMF I am also a member of sowpub. I am not soliciting you to join or buy anything but I know for a fact one of their members has a program that'll show you how to take in cash, upwards to $300 a day. How do I know it works? I saw an infomercial talking about the same business. I then researched it online and bingo, there it was real as life.

I don't make a dime from his sale and don't want to. I don't do the program because it involves physical labor and I don't like physical labor. Never have, never will. However, if you don't mind physical labor, you should do well. BTW, you will still be able to take care of your dad as you will set your own hours. You won't need a computer, cell phone, ipad or need to know SMS, SEO or anything online related. You will simply be a busy guy pocketing cash everyday you work.

I won't put the link here as this post isn't about selling anybody's stuff. BTW, are you on Skip Rosell's friend list? If not, you should be. He just sent us a free report showing how he makes, in a different business, upwards to $200 a day. My son went out over the weekend to test it here in the boonies of Northern Nevada. Has four appointments lined up for this week.

My friend don't get hung up in the minutae. Just pick something and do it.

Mike,

Please forgive me if this sounds harsh but I am concerned at the pattern here.

I have just read through a few of your previous posts over the last year and what really bothers me is that you bought or were given some really great WSO's, You gave fantastic reviews and then later on slammed those products on other WSO threads.

Some of those products you bought and/or were given were really good. Why did you not apply the principles?

Your promises of being the "Ultimate Testimonal" for someone, is sadly setting off alarm bells in my head. It feels manipulative.

You are about to get some great information from John, who will give and give, because that is his nature. All the other's on this Offline section are the most generous, kind-hearted giving people I have ever had the honour to meet.

You write well! You are coherent in your description of your predicament and I have no doubt that your challenges are real. With this much intelligence, you could do great things.

Will you take this gift seriously, knuckle down and do some actual work?

Nobody else can do it for you. Only you can!

  Wow, John, I just got done reading your report and it really inspired me! Those words at the end by Og Mandino nearly brought tears to my eyes. You managed in this fantastic report to make, the rather daunting task, at least for most of us anyway, of getting on that phone and "just do it", just start calling and results will come much less "frightening" than it really is. I must admit, even knowing how powerful it has been and, apparently, still is I've had a real avoidance to it. But, now, thanks to the way you've so wonderfully laid things out here. It's something that I'm certainly going to tackle with "reckless abandon"! Thanks for including the other fellow warrior's account of his first foray into this realm as a cold-calling newb. That was really inspirational as well. Thanks so much, John! This is just what needed today. I've truy been wanting to try cold calling for sometime now, but, was crippled from what, I now can clearly see was a ridiculous fear. I'm not going to say it's gonna be easy for me at first, I'm sure I'm still going to be nervous as hell in the beginning, but having your "words of wisdom" by my side will, no doubt, make the process a little easier with each call.   Thank you, Diana, and, yes, as I mentioned in my post I've gotten my hands on some truly wonderful teachings and have learned a great deal in my time here.
  
  It's been a tremendously difficult learning process for me because of all the "outside" distractions. And now, out of the blue, and at an inopportune age, this happens. I am now forced to, finally, get over the hurdles I've placed in front of myself and with the right "personal" guidance find the success I know has been within my reach for sometime now.
  
  For whatever reason, my 4 hour a day sleep average, 10-12 hour workdays (graveyard btw), caring for my father, I just havn't been able to achieve the desired results from what I've been tought. With most I did put in the time that was required, but, couldn't, for some reason, get any sort of success. And, yes, I definitely got frustrated. And I'm sure I probably, in most cases let my frustration get the best of me and let myself give up too early.
  
  These past few years have been very difficult and if I "bashed" any of the wso's I bought that I previously praised it's only because I was frustrated that I couldn't get them to work for me. Obviously, in retrospect, it was just me feeling the pressures of my regular life at the time. What, John and Jason, too, are doing for me here is beyond words.
  
  I've been fond of the old addage, "When the student is ready the teacher shall appear", well this student is definitely, finally, ready. Ironically, because I'm about to be jobless for the first time in many, many years, I will actually have the time to devote what I'm being taught here. It's going to be scary, but, after reading John's inspirational and truly eductional cold-calling report I feel that I can do this and that IF I do what is laid for me here this can, truly, be a blessing for us both.

  Mike, I am glad to see you are ready to be a student I think we all have been where you are at some time. I want to help so let me say this. This is to help. I have to agree with diana when I take an inital look. I noticed you have several post and you mentioned you received a lot of good info here. Yet my friend I notice you have not thanked a single person. Just an observation, maybe you haven't relized the thanks button.

  Yeah but he doesnt need me, nor a personal trainer... He just needs to do what the report says... Its a no brainer. Money will follow.
  
  The best personal training is to go get a sales job out of the paper or go to work for one of these Warriors on commission. Then you get PAID to be trained (if on commission) ...instead of paying for it.
  
  But in any event, the report will work, it has for hundreds of others. As Diana mentioned "Will You"? Is the question.

  Whenever you get frustrated and want to give up, just ask yourself the question "What will happen to my father if I mess this up?".
  
  I know that I probably sound sanctimonious and hard, but I have been right there where you are now. Only I had three young children that depended on me and that responsibility is overwhelming and terrifying.

I can agree with getting a sales or telemarketing job for training. It really is a great way to prepare yourself to sell for yourself. Get paid to sell for others first. Learn what works and what doesn't. Once you have a good handle on it you can either keep selling for them or start your own business and sell for yourself.

Shay, great to see you! Hey, I'm implementing that idea you gave me a couple weeks ago tomorrow night. I'm meeting with one of the ladies groups at one of the churches near me. I expect to get a few signups at $20 a pop at the very least. Unfortunately, things have been pretty rough with dad and work lately, so I'm justing getting to try it out tomorrow finally. I'll keep you posted!

Michael, thanks for the words! Actually, if you take a look at all 85+ posts you'll see that I have thanked many, many people. Not with the button, but the actual words, also, in emails and PMs. But, I appreciate the way you think!

John, I'm going to make my first 200 calls tomorrow. I'll be using a combination of the free leads from lead genie and manta.com. I'm meeting on skype with Jason (kaniganj) tonight. He's a successful cold-calling marketer, as well, so I'm looking forward to his insights in conjunction with yours!

Diana, wow, you made it happen while caring for 3 kids as a single mother, what an inspiration! My mother was 16 when I was born and had 3 more boys by the time she was 21. My parents split up when I was 7. Life was pretty tough on her. I know, all too well, the struggles of a single mother. Way too perservere! Everytime you post here you inspire me more! And that promise of mine to you is DEFINITELY for myself, as well. My father will NOT be let down! I WILL do this!

Carl, I'm DEFINITELY going to report my progress regularly. It all starts tomorrow! Hopefully, this will turn out to be a very inspiring thread! That's my goal!

First of all Mike, I want to say I'm sorry for your situation and I know tough times are here for some people. I do applaud you for wanting to take action and do something! That being said, I'm going to be totally honest with you. I haven't read other posts, just the first so if I'm repeating what others said, sorry for that.

The first thing, "casualty of this horrible economy". You need to erase your way of thinking and your outlook on things. I have helped a few people and their concern is the economy. They think websites cannot be sold, or no business wants to pay for SEO, or whatever. The way I view it, the occupy movement is helping me tremendously. These people can go protest all they want, they aren't trying to be a force in offline marketing, they aren't trying to get into this field, so hooray for me! Less competition.

This "horrible economy" might be on the minds of business owners, and for that reason, if they have any sense of success, they NEED my services. They need to do something different than they have been doing or else they will be OUT of business.

Now onto the 2nd point. WSOs are not going to pick up the phone for you and dial. Everyone will say follow this system exactly, but the truth is no one can put this to work except you. WSOs can speed up your learning curve, or just offer absolutely no value at all.

There is a difference between asking for help, and asking to be carried. Not saying you are asking to be carried, but I think the reason these systems aren't working for you is because you're looking for a short cut.

No advice that anyone can give you, or walk you through can help you if you aren't able to do things yourself. I'm referring to the systems anyone will give you to achieve their results. It just won't happen.

People are going to tell you to pick up the phone, call through the yellow pages, google places, yelp, whatever else that lists the phone number and pitch your offline services. That will help, and it could lead to the light at the end of the tunnel. There are people here that could tremendously help you with encouragement to pick up the phone and dial. I can promise you, even with a sucky script and bad prospecting, enough calls you WILL land some sales.

Is that going to help the longevity of your offline venture? NO. It will help you get sales, but what after that? Can you deliver? Can you stay on top of the projects while continuing to make sales? Can you do the work yourself or do you need to outsource?

Have you considered doing commission only for a few warriors here that already have a team set up and all you would have to do is sell? I think that is what I would recommend at first, otherwise I think it would be too much of a jump for you to be able to manage everything. Not saying you would be a failure, but your chance of success I would think is less likely.

If you could do commission only sales for people around here, it gives you a chance to make some money, and not have to worry about the projects itself. It gives you time to be familiar and set up your own system to give it a shot on your own in the future!

Im sorry, forgot to mention I did read John's stuff months ago and can highly credit him for 50% of my income now. I actually do door-to-door instead of calling but the idea is exactly the same. "Hey, I've just started a business doing websites, do you have a website? Yes? Hows that going for you? (that is the one answer I usually sell to as it is typically not working for them). And yes, John's material is one thing I am EXTREMELY thankful for.

Seems to me you're lucky you will be unemployed. You finally have the necessity to be an entrepreneur and make some real money.

Remember that most people only wish "doing this or doing that to be rich", but don't have the courage to do so.

Now you have the chance to prove to yourself and not going back.

If you start now and land some clients, what happens if the economy growing and prosper again?

yeah great read.. I am also in a similar situation without the sick dad. My partner has just been made redundant after we took some annual leave RIGHT BEFORE xmas.... we are pretty guttered but looking to bounce back and not let it hurt us too much...

Mike... Cold calling on the phone works. Of course it helps to have a great product and a way to pre-qualify prospects before you call them. That is what I did several years ago when I moved from the USA to Australia. I was down to only $200 in savings when the government finally gave me permission to work.

I needed money fast.

The only real asset I had was a digital camera.

So I figured if Owen Mills built a multimillion dollar portrait business by cold calling I should at least give it a try. Like most people, I was afraid to pick up the phone and make cold calls. However, getting down to my last $200 in a new country created more fear... the fear of hunger, which thumped my fear of making cold calls. Within 2 hours of making my first call I was over my fear... within 2 days I was shooting and selling portraits.

Give me a cell phone, camera and laptop, send me to any English speaking City with a population base of 20,000 or more and within a few days I'll be making at least $500 every day I choose to work thanks to cold calling. But a funny thing happens if you do good work and stay put in one location... you will start getting referrals from your clients and people will start calling you! This is were it gets really interesting... in my case my wife and I capitalized on this by starting PortraitPartyPhotographers.com

Today we have clients who will book us 10 sessions to photograph in their home in a single afternoon. The great thing is each of those session on average will result in over $500 profits per session. I still brag that anyone can make $500 a day with their digital camera but most people can't see themselves doing that much less $5,000 in a single afternoon.

If you want to provide internet marketing services to offline business owners then cold calling on the phone or in person works. If you have a digital camera you could offer business owners a free portrait for them to use on facebook... don't have a facebook account... offer to create one for them.... do you have an iphone? or other device with video capabilities? Try going up to any business owner and saying... I love your service / product... would it be all right with you if I made a video testimonial about your great such and such... and put it on the internet? Suggest they add it to their Google Places account... of course with a little research beforehand you already know that they do advertise their business... maybe in the newspaper or they add in the Yellow pages but you discovered they don't have a facebook page or haven't claimed their Google Places listing so guess who they will look to for help?

John truely is a man of all men... His heart is definitely in the right spot. Listen to him with all you have and Do, Do, Do!!!

Some people are just afraid of success... they can't even picture it... that is where you must start... see yourself doing just what he says and have the same kind of heart yourself... Seek to give others what they want and need and just watch how it comes back to you!!!

Sales has always been about fulfilling needs... not convincing prospects!

If we could just come up with a WSO that would remove a persons fear of success...

I was in the middle of writing something I thought might be meaningful. Then I thought, if you're running a scam it's not worth my time. I also thought, if you're sincere, nothing anyone says is going to make any lights go off in your head.

Hey Mike,

Sorry to hear about your troubles!

I think the posts here are all giving you good advice. Like the post above, I started by offering services to other marketers before I started getting my own clients. Find something that you can do on the side, build links, website, Craigslist, whatever... and start making some cash on the side.

Offline marketing is great, but like any business, it needs to be treated like a business. So stay focused and stay positive, and things will turn up!
