Good telemarketing script for my web design services?

Hello,

I need a good telemarketing script to sell my web design services to local prospects. I want to sell a basic 3-page website to local automotive businesses for $49.99/month. The recurring fee is justified by maintenance, security, web hosting, and making minor changes to the site. In addition to this 'package' I will be adding their business to my free business directory. I will compile my list of prospects from the yellowpages. Any business that doesn't have a website listed will be contacted.

I also need a 'terms of services' type page on my directory site which will highlight areas of responsibilities and the required payment to keep the 'service' up.

    What do you want to do with the script?

    Sell 100% over the phone, or book appointments, or give away something for free to follow up about later on?

        So the plan is to offer my web design services over the phone and if the prospect shows any hint of resistance or skepticism we can just offer them a free demo site. I'm currently looking for a cheap telemarketer however since I have other projects going and don't have time to call prospects.

          Easy!

          First, find about 50 businesses with bad or outdated websites.

          Call and introduce yourself as an up and coming web design company and ask how they are currently getting on with their web presence.

          Find out if they are getting alot of business.

          Out of the 50 you will find several of them more than likely have a website redesign on their radar.

          When you talk to the ones who want a new site, you will know instantly.

          Then have a good old discussion about what they want and what you will charge them. Then, agree to do a mockup free of charge to ensure they are going to be happy.

          Make them a really sharp home page to the spec they have asked for.

          Call back and close the deal.

          Rinse + Repeat.

          Just put it in your own words.

      Note, it will work best if you also customize your lead generation strategy to be synergistic with the pitch, and thus give you some leverage. Your best pitch depends on your overall strategy.

      Also, a good tip is to generate your call list from auto trader.com and not the yellow pages for this one. These people are already spending money and seeing returns. They believe in industry specific web sites and listings...

      It will also help you avoid the objection "Im already with auto trader", if you say "I found you on auto trader".

      Just mess with this a bit and it will work for you. Remember that your questions are an important part of the sales pitch. Each time a customer answers one they tie themselves down to the close more.

      Again, This is rough but I would have to charge you to write a custom script, so you can try to work with this semi generic one I put together awhile back:

      Hi __________?

      This is _______ with ___________ , you may have heard of us.

      Real briefly, the reason for the call is that I saw your listing on auto trader.com and I thought this might really benefit you.

      For a limited time, we are offering a very special deal on 3 page websites geared specifically for the auto sales industry, to help business owners like yourself effectively get more car buying customers in the door.

      Unlike other sites, these are are designed specifically to reach AUTO SALES customers, which is what we specialize in... much like auto trader.com itself.

      In fact you may know some of our other clients who are also listed with Auto Trader like ___________? Or ___________? For instance?

      (Note: Give away a couple of free websites to the top local lots on auto trader for street credibility).

      Okay I will jot that down… a lot of people see family owned businesses as more attractive to do business with…

      Do you offer any special services that you want listed on your web page?

      Okay great. The more details we can offer the better.

      Okay and what are your office hours?

      Now _______ once your web page starts getting visitors they are going to need a way to contact you through your site… do you want us to use a phone number as your main contact, or include a form your page that they can fill out to submit to you via email, or both?

      Good deal. By the way, if you receive email on your phone you can get a message alert every time a visitor fills out the contact form, That way you never miss a customer…

      And ________ What email address did you want your site to send the forms to?
      Is this the phone number you want to list on your site? (Repeat their number to them)
      Super!

      Couple more quick questions here __________ and I will let you go….

      Is there any particular thing about your company that makes it unique that you want us to list?

      Im not claiming this pitch is precisely what you need. Im saying you can customize to your offer (particualrly the questionaire) it and it will work like a charm for you.

      Hope it helps. Get The Bower Formula if you want the basic understanding of how to sell with questions. I know this pitch will raise some questions with you, which anyone else can feel free to answer because alot of people in the offline marketing forum know the method to the madness about this style of pitching...and have read the report... but this will get you started with an idea of how to phone close.

      Is it a long pitch?

      Maybe, but you dont get credit cards for a wham bammm thank you maam pitch!

      Its only long if you get to ask the questions, and if you get that far you are on your way to closing a sale, in which case you dont mind the extra minute or two!

      If you want to short cut it, go for it- You can tie a note around a dogs neck and send the message to enough doors and someone will eventually say yes, so as long as you are calling consistently you can barely go wrong, but THIS outline will give you lots of ammo in any event and give you lots of ideas hopefully.

        Thanks for that. Unfortunately, out of the 20 or so prospects I've called so far all of them said no. In 2 cases the owner wasn't in and I was told to call back at a later time.

        Is it possible to establish trust over the phone/internet? I'm targeting businesses outside of my town so it's not possible for me to physically meet with them.

          Ha, 20? You should be making that many in one hour if you aren't getting people talking. that's like saying:

          "I got 100 website visitors and no one bought, this product sucks."

          Yeah that is going to be the case more often than not. That's how prospecting works. You can't expect to make a sale on every call or you will end up frustrated.

          Stick with that script and keep on plugging away, while you keep track of your numbers. Once you have four or five sales in then look at your numbers to see how many calls you have made to get those sales. I think that you will end up surprised at how easy it was once you really got going.

          Its all about action, and you have a start.

    Well in 20 calls it would be hard to know your conversion rate. Depends alot on your delivery and list too. Look up diedra renae here on the forum, she does one sale per day on the phone without meeting anyone in person like eating breakfast every day.
