Recommendations for free or inexpensive video editing software for mp4 videos?

Hello all. I recently bought some professional looking videos for various niches that are in mp4 format, and need to find (preferably) free or cheap video editing software so I can add watermarks to these and add client info once I start selling some to small businesses. I have tried Windows Movie Maker, but I need to convert the videos to another format to use it, and even after converting a few of them, I ran into another issue where I was not able to save them (apparently this issue is very common based on my searches of Google trying to find a solution). This is a process that should take no more than 5 minutes per video, and instead I am wasting hours trying to find a solution. I am waving the white flag on WMM...

Does anyone have any software recommendations for me? These videos are only a little more than a minute long, and all I need is something simple where I can watermark these with my personal info or the client's info once I start getting some orders.

Convert your video and finish the job in Windows Media Maker if you know that program. Unless you have time, don't get side tracked trying to learn a new program.

Get a copy of mpeg streamclip and convert your video.. Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows It will let you convert to just about anything and it's free. I've used it on TV commericals, uploading videos to websites for clients and to convert videos for two short films. Plus the batch converter on it is simple to use if you have lots of video to convert.

If that doesn't work, hop on fiverr and find someone to edit it for you.

I appreciate your suggestions. Unfortunately, the problem isn't converting the videos. That part was easy. Once I convert them to .wmv format and then add the watermark and try to save them, I get the dreaded "cannot save the movie to the specified location" error. I have spent several hours over the last 2 days trying to solve this so I can do something as simple as save a watermarked 68 second video, and based on the search results, there are several people that have experienced the same lame issue and no easy solutions. Because of this, I would rather take a few hours learning a new software that works well vs. spending another minute being angry about this WMM issue.

(for the record, I have plenty of memory and hard drive space, so that is not the issue)

You might want to wait a few days (Jan 15) for the launch of easy video suite and see if that meets your needs. It's gearing up to be a big IM launch and some heavy hitters in video marketing are getting behind the product (i.e. people you can trust because they just don't push every affiliate opportunity at you).

Search for easy video suite on google and their facebook group. It looks like a serious game changer.

I love Sony Vegas and the consumer edition is less than $100 AND comes with a 30 trial which may be all that you need to make the changes you need here. Most other prosumer/consumer video editing programs also offer free trials too - and you can find all kinds of video tutorials on youtube to help you use them.

Try serif.com, they have a huge sale on for some of the older editions of their software. I've been extremely happy with their free photo program, photoplus. The sale has been on a while, so I think it may be ending soon.
