    can you clarify what is direct linking?
    You can do pretty much anything in the descriptions if it's your video, but if you mean commenting, it's not as freely.

      It means using a link directly to a sales-page (either as the product's vendor, or in the form of an affiliate-link) without sending the traffic to your own website first for either an opt-in and/or a redirection-link from there to the sales page.

    You can, but it's not the best approach.

    I push a lot of YT traffic. Your best bet: link to a squeeze page.

      The true answer to the original question (which I was reluctant to say in my post above, because it sounds a bit rude ) is "it really doesn't matter ", because you need to link to a squeeze page anyway. I know there are also people with a fear of list-building doing this "successfully" (they say) without linking to a squeeze page. They often don't know how much "more successfully" they could be doing it with a squeeze page, though.

        Thing is, Grandstar...

        Not all of your traffic on YT will be in the right frame of mind to secure whatever action you want. Could be to buy a product, sign up to play SWTOR, so on. When you watch videos, you tend to bounce around. Now, there are ways to combat this, mostly by extreme targeting, but you'd still lose potential actions by not capturing first. It's a heck of a lot better to present someone with a wee form - name here, email there - and then ease them into taking action with your newsletter.

    You can do that but you have to setup in your Youtube settings your website as a associated website. When you did this than you can send your viewers with a redirect to a salespage for example.

    For the YT videos I create, I use raw affiliate links plus all sorts of lead capture/gateway pages. I also cross promote with other YouTube videos I've done (if relevant) as well as link to blogs articles or anything along those lines

    The best deal is to send people to a squeeze page and not straight to your affiliate link, in this way you can also collect email and so do more marketing action in future.
