My site is aglaw.ca. I've been considering a complete redesign to generate new phone calls as well as create completely new leads through SEO.

I've gotten some quotes from local design firms which I think is the way I want to go. They're pricey though so I've considered managing the project myself and hiring freelancers to do the design.

That is a very basic html site you presently have. As suggested in your other similar thread you would probably want to go with a simple wordpress site. You can maintain the page structure and using plug-ins can increase seo, content and contact options.

You could make the change to wordpress inexpensively either doing it yourself or hired-out.

I guess my main question is whether I should go Wordpress or invest $2-3k in a professionally-designed site with content management.

Again - As I said before

You could make the change to wordpress inexpensively either doing it yourself or hired-out.
If you would rather spend thousands for a site you will continue to spend big $$$ every time you want to change it then go that route.

I don't know of any better way to answer your question:confused: Even in the other thread you had 2 others tell you, basically, the same thing. Wordpress is the most user friendly option there is.

I'm just exploring options. Just because a few people I don't know suggest Wordpress is the way to go doesn't mean I should not consider other things. I realize you may be extremely qualified, but I'm not just going to blanket follow what a few people have to say without doing further homework. One poster in the other thread suggested Joomla, which is a platform one of the professionals I spoke with said he'd use (as well as provide me with a CMS that I can use to edit myself).

The Wordpress sites I have seen don't project that professional image you see in corporate web sites - I want to move a few steps up from my current site. If I'm missing something, then that's fair, but I don't want to use Wordpress now and switch to something else when my practice gets large enough to sustain something professionally designed.

Hi AGLaw. If I was looking for a lawyer, I wouldn't be convinced at all to choose your services, not so much for the design of the website, but mainly for the very unconvincing content of the text, particularly at the light of the fact that attention to details in a lawyer is essential.
For example, there are many huge white spaces between words, the name "Adam" is repeated too may times in the "about" section (is there no way to start acouple of sentences differently?), sometimes you write in third person and then you jump to; "we", etc. etc.
I am not a professional but I gave you my fair view...all the best!

I am not trying to sell you on wordpress at all.
I just wanted to point out that you had another thread, on this subject, that you abandoned. You could have continued the discussion there. If you truely want help and advise, on this board, that is a bad practice.

I think the best bet, for you, (IMHO) would be to go to freelancer, rent a coder or some similar freelance site and put it out for bid. Let others not only tell you what they think you should do but how much they say it will cost to do it.

I wish you well in your search for knowledge.

I reviewed your website. It depends to go Wordpress / Joomla / Drupal / Own based on your requirements. I believe that when i reviewed your site Wordpress is good enough to move on. But over all your site needs to be improved in SEO, design perspective.

If you are interested in outsourcing to us plz visit our site ndot.in Or post me if any clarifications. thanks

      Hi Adam

I think perhaps what people on this thread and on the other might be trying to point out to you is that although wordpress was originally a blogging platform it has come along way since then and you can now build fantastic looking sites (that do not look like blogs) and that, because it is WordPress they are easy to maintain yourself, which in the end would save you some money, so you could either build it yourself from scratch or get someone else to get the site up and running and then you do the on going maintenance.

Just to give you an idea of what you can do with WP, here are a few sites we have done for clients in the past and all use Wordpress but as you will see have a completely different look, feel and functionality:

      7 Arts Dating

      Amman Valley School of Dance

      Real Estate Blogs Online

Grow Travel - Combining the experiences of fellow travelers with fantastic vacation packages and great prices

The last link is a prototype site for a client which is built on one of our own spare domains, hence the URL.

My question to you would be, did you build your current site yourself? if you did then I would say you would easily be able to learn how to maintain a Wordpress site yourself.

      Hope that helps some

There are some solutions for you.
    1. Go to freelancer com and hire someone;
    2. Find most suitable template for your website and re-design it with someones help
    3. hire the dedicated web design company (there are tons of them)
    4. If you are using wordpress then I do not see a problem to do it yourself
