Hey Warriors

Bsed on p2y's post, I've decided to try my first Content Network campaign. I followed his awesome advice step by step, yet for some reason I cannot get a single impression on the network. I figured, "hey, this guy is being nice enough to take the noobs by the hand and give out a free campaign", and yet, even with such awesome guidance, I can't get it to work.

Is the content network the kind of thing that takes a while to ramp up, or are the results visible in a few hours?

I've used the KW tool and adjusted my max CPC so I get positions 1-3 for my main keywords and still remain profitable, yet I get absolutely no impressions.

What gives? Anyone had similar experiences? I was always under the impression you can bid very low (.10-.20) on keywords in content network and get exposure and clicks.

I am currently set to Manual Bidding and have assigned a max cpc of .30 for my adgroups. Do I need to tweek the individual keywords?

Ugh im so lost. Anyone who can help, I'm ready to toss in the towel with this Adwords ****. This will make like the 15th campaign that has fallen on its face in the last month. I've read books, purchased more WSOs than I care to think about, and still not a dime in profit.

    I was also considering to start working on that, but I'm no sure now. It seems that AdWords hates zip/email submit offers and will not let you run your campaign for a long time. Google slap, you know...

    KenC, what is your ad like? You can't use trademarks in your ads. If you do, you'll get no impressions. Also, google is being difficult this week. I have hardly any impressions at all as well.

      Oscar, thanks for the reply. At first, I used a trademark term and the ads went immediately to "Under Review" status. So I removed the trademark term and replaced it with something similar and the ads got approved almost instantly. So honestly, aside from not bidding high enough, I've got no clue why they aren't showing my ads

      William, actually this does help. I read through the thread and some stuff got cleared up, so I'm changing my routine a little to see if I get more impressions. If this doesn't work, I don't know what I'll be doing for plan B.

      Ok, I wrote in to Adnerds support, so we'll have to wait and see what they say. I've upped my bids to 3 bucks just to see if it was an issue with bid amount. Still zero impressions. So, either they've slapped the piss out of my campaign without my knowledge or something isn't working right with the system at the moment. We'll see. please let me know if anything changes on your end.

    Don't ever contact adwords. If they don't like what you're doing, they'll ban your account.

    Adwords has actually placed many accounts under review the last couple of days. They did a massive ban the last 2 days getting rid of many affiliates that were promoting rebills and such. I know of at least 5 affiliates that were banned yesterday. Impressions will probably take a few days to start rolling again. I'm pretty sure my account is under review right now as is yours. They do this periodically.

    To everyone else, do NOT contact adwords about campaigns not getting impressions. Especially as an affiliate. If you do, they'll review your campaign, see that you're running an e-mail submit, and possibly ban your account. Not usually, but it's happened before and yes, I know people that have been banned for simple e-mail submits. In fact, I know a guy who got banned 2 days after he started PPC because he was running a poll and contacted adwords support. They looked at his poll and banned him. Not trying to scare you guys, but just be aware of what's possible.

      Damn that really sucks. I hope I don't wake up to a ban. That would suck something fierce. I always thought email submits were legit. My landing page has content and gives some value. It's not a piece of crap by any means. I guess we'll see!

      do they ban accounts without a warning or will they send you an email an tell you that you have to fix your campaigns so that they are fine with their TOS.
      It's hard to believe for me that google bans accounts without a warning.

    A few tips for using the content network:

    1. Start off by bidding high, you want to get exposure and high CTRs as that is the main facture in eventually get low CPCs. So be sure to always be split testing! <---- Important

    2. Adgroups should contain 10-25 keywords all similar to each other, including plurals and singular forms, some synonyms, etc

    3. Setup content image campaign (1-3 day approval) and content text campaigns (usually within 24 hrs its approved) seperately.

    4. Be sure to run placement reports to find the URLs that are bringing the sales.

    5. Be careful what offers you promote on the content network, Google is cracking down on the cheesy and fake offers.

    6. Target competitor urls, product urls, misspellings, etc..

    That will give you a start

Create a provacy policy, a contact and a resources page. If it's possible, also create a blog and make some posts. That should be enough.
      Is there anything CPA related these twits accept? I just read through the book of Adwords policies and didn't find anything about email/zip submits, unless this qualifies as being a "data entry affiliate". In which case, I'm probably losing my account today lol.

        Google, as usual is making harder and harder for affiliates to make money.

        I now only do PPC on Yahoo and Adcenter, I am also starting to advertising offline.

    Content Network is all about CTR. Have you tried Image Ads yet? All you really need to focus on is "selling the click". You need to have a good hook.

      For some this is very true. There are people who've made as much as a million dollars a month on some offers. While I haven't seen paycheck proof with these amounts, I have seen checks from people who've made 100K in 2 months.

      In CPA it's possible to make a boatload of money. What a lot of those people tell you is that they're making X amount of money, but don't bother to mention the insane amount of work they did to get there, or what they invested in mentoring and advertising costs to get there.

      To answer your question, $40k a month is very achievable. Whether it's easy or not, I would venture to think not based on the 10-12 hour days I'm putting in with no results. It might be "easy" per se once you have a few profitable campaigns on autopilot (you simply pay your costs and monitor performance to ensure your ROI is in good shape), but finding those offers, making the landing pages, creating incentives and optimizing everything to a hair is the hard part, and can take a long time to get right. And once you get it right, then you can begin to outsource 90% of the work and focus purely on implementation.


      But yes, I've seen the pictures of people's commission accounts. It's silly what some of them make. Some bring in more in 1 day than I do all year. Just use it to motivate your efforts.
