Landing Page Setup - Help Needed

Hi Fellow Warriors,

First time trying to setup a proper landing page (all previous campaigns were direct linking).

Read a few advice from this thread and implemented some ideas into the LP. Btw, it's a simple one page LP which has CPA offer banners.

This is what I have done.
- brought a new related keyword domain (2 days old)
- header, meta tags, description and image alt are all keywords rich as well
- wrote a unique 350 word article into the LP (again keywords related)
- has privacy policy, disclaimer, contact us and about us pages linked at the footer
- adwords campaign ad group was very thigh with just 5 related keywords

In fact the landing page itself is named as "keyword.html"

But got slapped by Google in my Adwords campaign.
From QS 7 to 3 (slapped me with 5 times the amout I am bidding)
Eventually today, it went to QS2 where the ads have stopped displaying.

Is there anymore things required to do? So frustrated. I thought I have done things in proper according to what they wanted. It is true that Google doesn't want our (affiliates) money anymore?

Any help/comments will be appreciated.

Why don't you try advertising on facebook instead?

So you put the creatives on the page and set up a PPC campaign? I'd say try custom designing your creatives

Would like to focus on PPC as it gives me good results so far. But thanks for the idea.

It's a fully customized LP which I created myself after looking at some LPs out there. So don't think it's a matter of duplicate creatives.

Even the article which I wrote, it was copyscape passed. Totally unique. Really confused what went wrong.

It could be one of 100 different things. It sort of sounds from your description that your landing page is simply an article and then theres a banner up top with a cpa offer. If thats the case, it may be very hard to make money with PPC because many people dont even pay attention to banners and if click costs are high, say good by to any profit potential. You always want to design your page to funnel the viistor to your cpa offer. You dont have to be so direct, but it must at least indirectly funnel

Actually the problem is not the conversation ratio. The past 2 days, the conversation ratios (Adword to LP / LP to CPA offer page) are pretty high and profitable.I know these KWs will convert because they has been tested over YSM / MSN Ad (via direct link)

My LP is pretty standard. Top header banner, body with 2 columns, Left is a CPA banner and right is call-to-action pointers. Article is just below these 2 columns. The followed by another call-to-action banner and footer links.

My problem now is why I have been slapped by Google? Is there any other best practices which I did not cover to achieve a reasonable QS from them?

Yes, there is something else you need to do:

Get your site indexed on Google and get relevant, quality backlinks to your site (doing the second will accomplish the first).

You should do this first before launching a PPC campaign or you will get slapped, which is what has happened.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, the domain and the LP page are not indexed yet. Maybe this could be the reason. But is it so important that they have to slap the campaign all the way to QS2 and stop the ad from displaying?

Google can be really frustrating when you are first starting out (heck..even when you've been doing it a while!). I would recommend trying some of the other PPC traffic sources such as Bing and Yahoo. I've also had good luck with Ask, although their traffic volume is pretty low.

I like YSM/Bing because they gives me very good results from conversation ratio and campaign ROI perspective.

It's just that I am looking to scale these campaigns to Google as it's very obvious the traffic there is much much higher. I think it's just part of learning curve. :-)

Yes.. this helps w/ QS a tad... but its not why youre campaign got slapped. Your campaign got slapped probably because...

-Google doesn't like your offer (****?, Colon Cleanse?)
-The way you're promoting it (flog?,farticle?)
-You have no sitemap, privacy policy, about page, terms, contact page, etc..
-...or it could be a ton of other things.

        My offer isn't
        - free trial of health products
        - not a flog. my article are just a product description of the offer
        - done all these (except the sitemap, will get it done by tonight)
        - LOL

          Hi Guys,

Just wanted to update all. After struggling for 10 days, QS hovering around 3-7 back and forth, Google finally gave one final slap on this campaign.

All QS now dropped to 1 and campaign was stopped to a halt.

Geez... while a bit disappointed with the slap but I am more eager to know what went wrong.

Let's recap what I have done
          - brought a new related keyword domain (2 days old)
          - header, meta tags, description and image alt are all keywords rich as well
          - wrote a unique 350 word article into the LP (again keywords related)
          - has privacy policy, disclaimer, contact us and about us pages linked at the footer
          - adwords campaign ad group was very thigh with just 5 related keywords
          - sitemap done
          - site was being indexed with backlinks from social sites
          - no annoying pop-ups on the landing page
          - no FLOGs, no bogus claims, not health free trial, just simple email submit
          - just a simple call to action (click HERE) banner
          - majority of my keywords CTR is 3-5%! One of them was over 10%!

Is Google really doesn't favor affiliate landing page anymore?

          Guys, appreciate some comments.

    Hello unlimitedwealth,
The very first ting to look at would be what it is you are promoting and if that site / product complies with G T&C, yes it may fine on the other networks but not G if so.

Next is you reference to a Land Page. I can not speak for others or verify what they do, only show you what I do.

And that is build a land / solo site as below

    home page
    about us page
    articles
    > article 1 <>*
    > article 2 <>*
    > article 3 + <>*
    blog (optional)
    > blog 1 <>*
    > blog 2 <>*
    > blog 3 + <>*
    Contact us page
    FAQ page
    resources page
    site map
    terms

<>* = these are keyword rich and where you bring your ads into.

this structure also allows you to build or add fresh content to the site and or exapand your target keyword groups should the campiagn start to fire well, and running at Q 10 your costs are as effective as possible

your ad and relevance will also play vital roles in completing the picture

again i can not not comment on others or what they do, only offer suggestion, i do run a QS of 10 / 10 for a large portion of my campaigns

also keep in mind regardless of your set up, if the site itself as mention does not meet G terms then no site you build will pass, sooner or later it would be slammed

if that is so just use the other networks for this promotion.
