Yes, another newbie question but I will try not to make it too general!

Warriors,

Ok, I am new to this whole CPA stuff. I'm pretty technical, I can do web programming and have been programming for a living for a long time. I recently was introduced to CPA by a friend of a friend. He didn't really give me guiding advise, just pointed me to a couple network sites. After spending some time doing research, reading blogs, searching networks, etc, I decided to give a couple of offers a try.

I started out with a zip submit and an email submit. I purchased domains for both and created pages that displayed the offer's landing page in an Iframe to get around googles adsense policies. (I guess you would call this direct linking). I then set up and ran some google ads. After the ads were approved by google, I started to see the ipression and clicks going up according to Google Analytics. (1 a got 65,000 impressions and 209 clicks in 10 hours) I actually thought I was struck gold and that this stuff really works.....until I logged into my Network's account and noticed not only were the clicks way off, but it was reporting that I made $0! After this day of wasting money (about $25 in total), I decided to halt all my campaigns until I know what I am doing. Here are my questions:

I read that most people talk about landing pages that ask for email, and they are a must. But do you still create a landing page for something as simple as a Zip Submit? Most of the offer landing pages I have seen have been really nice looking, do I need to create a landing page that looks as nice? Zip submits seem like they would be an easy conversion, do you find it that the visitor is also willing to give his email on your landing page?

Does it make sense to direct link the way I have described? If so, what am I doing wrong?

Can someone point me in a direction of typical landing pages for real offers?

Thank you all for your help!

    Hi,

Personally, I think that a well presented sales page always goes a long way - I think subliminally as well, it tells the customer that you have obviously spent money on it - so you have faith that it will do well.

Recently, there was a post where one user asked the community to look at their site and do a critique, they came back and (although it wasn't awful) it could have had some work done to improve it - In my opinion, it goes a lot further with a nice to look at landing page.

As far as examples go, I would have thought the best place you can look on this forum is the JV's WANTED section, people often post links - some good landing pages, others not quite as good, but at least then you will get an overall picture of the general standard that is out there.

I hope this helps, sorry can't help with the CPA question.

I'm not sure if what you're doing is right or not. But I will share my experience with you. I am also new to the CPA business. But I took a shortcut path. Look at my signature and you'll get what I meant.

I don't have my own landing page, and I don't use a website to promote CPA offers at this moment. I use direct linking method and I have only spent $2 to make around $100+ for the last 2 days. I don't use any custom landing page at all.

I am mainly doing the LEAD offers , not rebills, not per sale kind of offers.

I am using cpv/ppv methods. I am not using SEO / ppc methods.

I get around 1000 views (not clicks) each days and my conversion rate is around 0.6% - 1.0% .

But this method is quite dangerous if we don't study and understand it beforehand.

Hope this is going to give you some idea on what is this CPA all about. Cheers

You'll probably find that as you are using email/zip submits your leads are being scrubbed.

Try rotating 5-10 offers from different CPA networks with different landing pages etc to see what converts. Delete the poorly converting ones and pump up traffic to better ones.

Godo on you for getting into CPA. With your background it should be a pretty smooth transition.

In terms of your questions thre are a fwe possibilities.

    1. Your offer just isnt converting well. Perhaps you have untargeted keywords or just plain old bad traffic. Perhaps the offer just stinks. It happens.

    2. Perhaps your leads are gettign scrubbed. Some networks sscrub more than others and it happens a lot with simple submit offers like you are doing. This is why it is sometimes hard to justify paid traffic for email and zip submits.

    3. Perhaps the offer doesnt allow iframes or has a framebuster. In this case, you can actually be getting conversions but dont receive commission because you werent allowed to promote using iframes. This is why is helps to speak with your affiliate manager sometimes.

In any event, keep plugging away and trying new things. Use your programming knowledge to your advantage in every way you see fit.

    to your success

it seems that you are not getting good traffic. I am not sure what you are promoting but you must get into the mindset of the person coming to your offer. Why would a person enter their zip for your offer. What would be the benefit for them to do so? Your landing page must answer a question for the user that they beleive will be answered by the offer. Create the landing page (you can get a .info for little of nothing), theme your keywords and try again.
