is ppv or cpm the best place to directlink or should you have a landing page?

With ppv I think direct linking is the best way to go. You really don't need or want any content-rich blogs or sites to work with PPV, what you want is a simple, succinct and to the point page (this is why you need to examine your offer pages carefully when direct linking with ppv).

I agree with the posts on this thread in that everything depends on the offer on what type of marketing will best create a lead.

My high recommendation is to talk to your affiliate managers on certain offers and ask them specifically if they know if other publishers in their network what traffic has been successful for their offers.

This right here eliminates the guessing game and you have the answer you need to decide whether to go direct link or PPV

Feel free to PM me if you want to know what offers we have in our network that will be good for direct linking, PPV, PPC, email, etc. Cheers!!!

Very interesting post. As far as PPV what do you guys recommend to start out with on CPV? Like what CPV platforms are worth using.

Very true...it's never really a matter of which one is better. Each strategy can work better for different campaigns and offers. Personally I use LP's more but I know people who do really well direct linking also.

I would say to start with Adon or Media Traffic. You can also try Direct CPV.

Hah ! David were you referring to me?

Yea, what David and other says is true, you'll never know what works the best for an offer until you've tested it out enough...

While I am typing this out, I am having huge success with 1 of my offers.

I am using direct linking method, and I am literally spending around $2-$3 on cpv/ppv, and making around $100+ for 1 day.

I don't think this is going to happen everyday, but I am averaging $50-$100 using this strategy.

So, the point is, keep testing and tracking everything down to the earth. You will never know what's going to happen next.

I found out about this method accidentally, so to speak..

However, from what I know, most of the time, you would want to use a SHORT, EYE GRABBING landing page if you're using the cpv/ppv method.

    Hope this helps.

It will also depend on what you are linking to. If it's a short form CPA offer then why bother with a landing page if you can avoid it. PPV ad is effectively your landing page anyway.
If it's an affiliate product then generally a landing page (pre-sell) is thought to be beneficial.
If it's your own product then hopefully your own sales pages will do the job.
If using PPV then you have a great opportunity to split test everything so if it's easier and quicker to go direct -do that and then add a landing page in to split test. --etc etc etc.
CPM (presuming Google) will have issues with quality score so you may be forced to use a landing page anyway.

You just read on my mind lol , I was going to say the exact same thing.

You could try direct linking first , if you see the offer has potential design an eye catching landing page to boost your conversions

It really depends on the offer. Never hurts to split-test between direct-linking and using a landing page.

    Split testing is definitely key.

What you do wanna watch out for is any offer landing pages (not your custom ones, but the ones you plan to direct link to) that are TOO WIDE. Many Adware networks restrict the pop-up windows to around 700 pixels. You definitely don't want the user to have to scroll around the find the input field(s) or buttons.

There's ways to get around the width restriction (auto-resizing javascript), but some networks frown on those and will reject those campaigns.

You have to split-test. What I usually do is start offers direct linking. If it seems to be an offer that I can make profitable, I will get more serious with the tracking. I will split-test the direct link against a couple landing pages. My landing pages are small pre-sells, generally 750 X 550 to match the normal popup size.

This is a game of tweaks, both to landing pages and keywords used. I haven't been able to make anything work without tweaking it constantly.

You would be surprised at how much difference in conversions that small adjustments can make.
