Yahoo answers and CPA - Good or bad idea?

Has anyone ever tried CPA stuff with yahoo answers? Did it convert for you? I am thinking of trying it but I am not sure what is the best way.

I once tried to use Yahoo answers for getting traffic to a dating signup. Obviously within some days, some reported my answers and they got deleted. I think the dating niche is unsuitable for Yahoo answers. Apart from that, if you can sound like you are promoting an offer(not affiliate) then you can make some money out there.

Yea, I agree with you. It could* work if you were actually really helping them. I'd almost consider it some sort of spam - not really the best way to go about getting conversions.

It converts and converts well but it's a technique that you need to do properly, it's not something you can spamfest or pay some guy $2 and hour to do for you.

I have a collegaue that uses it quite extensively but only in very high ticket items, predominantly private programs paying $150 - $200 a pop commision in the financial sector.

You need to actually offer quality advice, you need to actually (God forbid) know your subject.

If it's done right it's powerful because:

        a) YA, has great positions in SERPS and lasts almost forever.
        b) People often link to a good YA question/answer
        c) The gen public generally trust YA responses if the feedback on the guy is good.
        d) You can of course manipulate your popularity and rating quite easily.

Bottom line yes it works but I think it's an awful way to promote stuff for $20 commision unless you hit a jackpot, but for a more long term, high value product that's worth putting in the time to actually help people and become a mini authority , yeah it's solid.

Sorry, but have to disagree. I was doing $50-$100 a day with dating answering questions everyday for about 4 hours a day, rotating accounts, etc. Your question selection was probably wrong, your landing page also.

Answers is tough but does work if it is done properly (like SimonHarrison said). A few years back I used to use Answers a lot to generate traffic and CPA sign ups. Now they are very strict and delete questions/answers very quickly.

I use it, it works for me. I think it depends on your niche, I am in the relationship niche. I get a good bit of traffic from it and some sales. The answers stay out there forever so it is a link that never goes away. I try to answer a 100 questions a week, time consuming yes, but I have been doing it for 6 months now and that is a lot of backlinks.

A lot of the posts above have very good answers.

I've used it myself with great results. You see recurring visits because of the high positions in SERPS (I ranked #4 for five keywords with 120,000 results in about an hour).

It's a little time consuming because (like several of the people above have mentioned) you need to provide quality answers. Also, your links don't become "clickable" until you reach 250 points, which could take a while if you don't provide good answers. (You start off with 100 points, get 1 point for logging in everyday, 2 points for just answering a question, and 10 points for being chosen as the best answer.)

Note that because Yahoo Answers is nofollow, your actual pagerank may not be affected directly. However, you get lots of indirect traffic, which is always a good thing!

How many answers in a niche is a good test? I have got 100 hops on a clickbank weight loss product with high gravity and no sales.

I've tried Yahoo Answers, it works but they are really strict. I've had helpful answers but usually after a few posts my account gets reported so now I don't use them anymore. It does work though!
