I just started my very first try with Facebook today. So far here are the results...it's even worse than I could of imagined..

Ad #1
Free download targeted to US girls aged 13-17
Impressions: 8,890
Clicks: 1
CTR %: 0.011%
Conversions: 0 (of course)

Ad #2
Fast cash payday loan/instant approval style loan offer targeted to single, US women aged 25-40.
Impressions: 10,790
Clicks: 1
CTR %: 0.009%

2 dating ads for single men still pending review.

I know I've read not to expect too much of a CTR %, but woww! I'm guessing I suck extra bad.

Your image is everything with facebook.

Remember most people on facebook are very bored so by creating some weird image it will attract their attention.

Bored offers also don't really work well on facebook i noticed.

Yes Facebook works the same way as Google.

People click on AdWords ads if they are written in a "crazy" way.

I use CRAZY words in all my ads and not something plain and simple.

Just be creative with your ads and believe me you will get more clicks and improve your CTR!

The image makes a huge deal. My Clicks doubled just by changing the image. It always seems to be better if you use a picture of a person.

As far as getting accepted.. I have heard some people say that they are having to submit the same ad multiple times to get it accepted.

My personal opinion on facebook is that you can get lots of traffic, but it doens't convert nearly as well as what you get on Google

Make a lot of ads and see which ones get accepted. Re-submit the ones that weren't. Then drop everything below 0.08%-ish CTR after a day or two.

Split test different images, demographics and ad copy, put your highest CTR ads into CPM.

If your ad is getting that low of a CTR on FB then you just need to delete it and start over. FB ads are all about the image, your budget and allowed spend per day, the time of the day and even week you start the ad. Target smaller numbers with tighter demographics to increase your CTR. Ad with low CTR has no chance on FB. Low meaning below 0.04. FB just ruled to not allow my direct offers on FB anymore which are finance related. So I am bummed, it did very well for us and I am looking for other options.

I imagine there are people making some good money with Facebook, but it's tough for internet marketers precisely because of what pappyy3 says above.

Your add has to be a real attention grabber to get any traction on FB.

First post, nobody wants to boring see ads they always see around the net, you have to be creative and put some kind of twist on it.

Without revealing too much my latest campaign has had over a 0.45-50%+ CTR (screenshots can be provided) with 0.02c per click and 0.10 average CPM and giving me about a 0.15 EPC on my offer, so you can imagine how much I pump into just getting these cheap clicks.

Facebook loves high CTR and will reward you with dirt cheap targeted clicks.

You need to grab the attention and target like crazy, only target people who you know FOR SURE will glance at your ad. I typically only target around 50-100k people for a really large niche.

The only thing that really annoys me is the approval system. One time I submitted over 4 ads which were approved within 1 hour. A few days later I tried to submit similar ads but kept getting denied, but then when I tried to submit the exact same ads they were accepted the next day.

But in conclusion its possible to get cheap targeted clicks on Facebook. Just test test test like everyone said.

I finally got round to creating a facebook profile to see what it was all about and I don't think I would ever advertise on there - seems very random and untargeted. The ads showing on the pages i was working on or scrolling through were of no interest to me eg I'm not a young girl or a lady - or even a woman for that matter so all of those ads on my page were meaningless junk. I have to admit I wandered who spent a lot of time on facebook and I think the comment about bored people may have been close to the truth.

I know there have been comments about ad blindness but I'm sure that relevance is more the issue - for me anyway.

If some folks are finding success in FB advertising and you're not, well, simply put, there's obviously something wrong.

FB advertising relies heavily on the images that you use along with your text description. I'd say the image is probably the most important thing to grab attention so try split testing with different images and then alter the text that goes with your ads to get a winner.

I wouldn't say people are suffering from ad blindness completely, otherwise there wouldn't be any people having success with FB marketing. It's just figuring out what works for a specific campaign in terms of text and image, then your landing page, too, to maximize your conversions.

It's hard to make a good ROI on Facebook PPC nowadays. You might want to look into alternatives like creating Groups or Fan Pages. A lot of times, you can get free traffic this way. Lots of suckers are joining random groups and pages it seems.

I didn't get very good results with Facebook either, but its a good means of testing how effective your advertisements are. Compared to Google, you will still always get clicks (due to the massive amount of exposure).

    But Facebook is more targeted.

My advice is simple... I would be find someone who is doing well with Facebook ads and take a look at how they are doing it!

There will be plenty of people out there achieving the results you want...

Then you can adapt and use the methods in your campaign.

    Good luck

Am not sure you really know the nitty-gritty of using facebook to make money. You can get a high conversion with or without facebook ads. Since you have started using facebook ads, my simple advice for you is this; Test CPM and CPC and see which one works best for your product.

As an internet marketer with over 10 years of experience, I have discovered that that Pay Per View banner advertising is a cheap and easy way to attract quality traffic to a website. The fact remains that visuals attract than mere words. When one is surfing the net and sees a banner which demonstrates a man coming from the bank with money in his hands, curiosity will make him/her to click the banner

In my latest research carried out on Facebook Pay Per View advertising program, I paid $0.08 for 1,000 impressions at the cost of $2 per day. Two dollars ($2) will fetch me 25,000 impressions. By the time I had spent $11, I had enjoyed more than 800,000 impressions and 1,672 clicks.

By the figure given above, for what I have spent only $11 for, I would spend $0.05 X 1672 = $83.6 if I opted for PPC.

From my perspective, there are instances when banner pay per view form of online advertising is effective. It is effective when you are targeting a niche and are sure that the adverts will appear only when such people are available e.g. advert targeting a country or language.

The image you place is definitely the biggest factor in getting attention. It's bad enough that Facebook is cluttering their member pages with tons of apps and junk, then the paid ads are wayyy to the far right which makes them almost non-existent to the potential client. I think at some point they'll have to place some ads in more prominent areas of the site if they wish to deliver better results to their advertisers.

Facebook advertising SUCKS if you're advertising a website but works AMAZINGLY if you want to advertise something on Facebook like a page, group, application or page post. Never use it to have people leave Facebook to another websites, it would be just a big waste of money. I used it; however, to get fans for a page I got 10,000 fans in 2 days or so and they were SO active.
