What is Wordpress and how does it work????

Oh god...

I don't want to sound rude, but why don't you search in this forum or even google about what is wordpress? There are hundreds of topics explaining how does it works and what it is.

IMHO, if you want to learn, you have to take action, if you don't know anything search and try to find an answer instead of just posting a new topic here for a question that has been answered too many times.

Being a complete newbie doesn't make you an useless person. From what I've read, since I'm a complete newbie just like you, there are a lot of ppl willing to help and answer you kindly, but you are asking them to take your hand and start making money for you :S

Just my opinion, it will take you more time to learn, but that way you'll learn by yourself!

Its basically a very easy way to create very nice websites using a lot of drag and drop plugins (chunks of code) so you really dont need to know code that much.

But yes, just take a look at their site and start poking around.

My strategy is always to just take a day or so and just start messing around with whatever I am trying to learn. I didnt learn photoshop by reading a guide, I downloaded the free trial and then just started trying to do stuff. Yes I stunk at first but thats how I learn best. I did the same with html, wordpress, cpa, everything.

so just start doing and learn as you go!

It's an incredibly powerful content management system that's free and opensource.

In other words, it gives you the ability to easily update your website and there are thousands of people constantly working to improve it for the good of the community.

wordpress is incredible and it is becoming increasingly popular for website creation and content maintenance. Wordpress have an excellent "five minute install" guide and after you have done that then scour youtube for videos and google etc for ways to edit and manipulate existing templates so that you can adapt them for your needs.

I've read it was only for blogs, didnt relise you could use it for proper websites aswell.

So am i right in thinking when i download it (which i have) the folder is full of images and all that stuff for a website, and i just have to drag it into dreamweaver to make a site?

Hi mitko,

This is the best time for you to learn the ropes. I will not use some jargon here but I hope you will still get the idea.

Wordpress is a software used to make blogs. Blogs are like diaries only that it is public and it is online. If you install wordpress into your site, you can get a blog or an instant working website.

Now people use these websites to get approved to CPA networks. Once approved, you can promote or advertise these so-called CPA offers to make some money. While there are lots of methods out there. It all starts with a site.

Now that you know what these are, it is time for you to learn more about the following:
1. site building
2. site promotion
3. CPAs
4. CPA promotion

Look into these matters and you will understand what we are all talking about in here.

I think that for newbies like me and you, the best way to start CPA is with the Craigslist Method...
To have a website to promote offers is a lilttle bit more advanced. but if you have no money to spend then i think craigslist would be best to start out with...

It is what i am currently doing and i am getting pretty good conversions (out of like 30 emails i got 4 conversions)

Careful careful careful, craigslist promotion is very tricky. Once you start doing reasonable numbers, you will get noticed and most networks wont be pleased...assuming you are doing traditional cpa.

I only say this because it seems like you are directing cl traffic straight to the cpa offer. This is more frowned upon than directing to your web location first.

nice job for taking action but just want to bring up to other newbies that craigslist is a tricky beast because most networks dont allow cl traffic, particularly if you are new

Well yes, but I am not posting the link to the offer on craigslist though... when the people email me about it, thats when i give them the link..

so isn't it basically by email?
because on the network it says "no craigslist" but it allows you to do it by email

If you are simply looking for a content management system, then you could also try Joomla. Wordpress is optimized for blogs. If you don't want a blog then definitely try Joomla because it has a great deal of support and tons of free themes.

I see wordpress as a powerful software esp for newbies whom just started out with IM.

Besides the blogging features, one can create sites or mini sites that look comparable to softwares like dreamweaver.

Besides that, you only need to install into ur hosting once. Templates are available freely - literally tonnes to choose from the net.

Try installing it and play ard. U don't really need to worry bout htmls that much.

Ha, knowing what I know - I would not recommend Joomla! to a newbie.

Don't get me wrong - I like Joomla! but the learning curve is much steeper and it can take weeks as opposed to hours to get things set up and running right.

There are so many ways to display Wordpress that is is more than just "a blog."
