Advice for someone seeking affiliates?

So a partner and I started a company and we've started selling a lot of product using adwords. Problem is, we've gotten very little traction with organic search and we're not making enough to survive. So my question is this: If you're a small company with a single product (health/wellness; price point=$29.95) and you're willing to offer a 25%-30% commission rate, what's the best way to go about finding affiliates?

We're using 1shoppingcart, so it's easy to set up affiliate programs, but advice on finding high-quality, motivated affiliates is what I could really use.

Big thanks in advance,
Matt

Ideally you'd probably want to partner with a few networks if possible and just deal with them as the 1 point of contact and let them deal with the affiliates

That sounds like good advice. One last question: Any suggestions on which networks would be best for A) a newbie like me, B) health/wellness category C) physical products?

    Thanks very much,
    Matt

The product type isn't really an issue at all.

The product category isn't either, but also depending on the sub niche.

Being a newbie does have a bit to do with it.
You will more than likely have to pre pay for your sales.
Few, if any, networks will take a new advertiser on without pre paying for the sales. So a biggish wallet is needed.

Talk to a few networks and see what is what.

      You're fighting an uphill battle.

Big affiliates are gonna promote your offer for one reason and one reason only.

The numbers have to make sense.

Why should I promote your unproven offer when I can promote a proven one that is $39.95 and be paid 75%?

You have have to shift your focus to one that focuses on serving affiliates and helping them make the most money possible.

I can tell you right now that your numbers just don't make sense. The margins just aren't there and your offer will never attract people who can send you a lot of traffic.

Thanks everyone for the good info. I'll give it a try on a couple networks and see what happens. Fortunately I'm selling a ton on my own, so prepayment of commissions will be no problem. And if the numbers don't add up, I'll try to raise the price/percentage.

    Thanks again!
