Hi guys,

I have tried tiny url.com but its just not working...

I just wanted to ask if anybody knows if it is possible in any way for me to choose my own domain name for free so I can try article marketing...

If there is no way,

What is the cheapest way to go?

Thanks in advance

Here is a discount link I found for Godaddy for .COM domains. Only $6.99 per year. That is the best I have found so far, and Godaddy is GREAT to work with. This is not an affiliate link.

    godaddy.com/compare/gdcompare_domain.aspx?isc=goaz006c

You can also just do a Google search for $6.99 domains, and Godaddy will show up in the #1 position under Sponsored Listings. Look for this:
    SPECIAL OFFER !
    .COMs JUST $10.69* $6.99*/yr!

OR get your domain for just $0.00*
    with any new, non-domain purchase.

Your discount will be applied in
    your shopping cart.

Also, I would recommend staying away from TinyURL and other well-known URL shorteners, especially if you plan to use it with any CPA networks, Adsense, Clickbank products, etc. It just looks very unprofessional, and will drastically reduce your CTR.

If you decide not to go down the article marketing road with the domain you buy from GoDaddy you can place the offer under the domain name by going to domain forwarding and masking your forwarding id. Much more simple than it sounds. Then there is no need for tinyurl and hopefully you will get higher CTR

You can also buy .info domains for under a $1 each at GoDaddy.

One think I like to do with a domain is setup a wordpress blog, then install the Pretty Link plug-in. This allows me to create shortened URL's based upon my domain name, instead of using another source for URL shortening.

I then have the blog to use for content, a landing page, etc...for building free traffic, along with using it for my forwards and URL shortening.

If you're after a keyword domain for your site then I suggest buy it at godaddy. Just for precaution. Because when one day you don't feel like you're gonna continue the work on that site, you can sell the domain easily. Many domain buyers prefer domains registered at godaddy.
