CPALead - any value as an "information gateway"?

Hi everybody,

Still a noob here, so hopefully this doesn't seem like a completely elementary question... but I figured with so many bright, experience people around here there is no better place to ask.

I've been looking at CPALead a lot lately. Seems like a pretty solid idea, they have a good rep on WF, etc. My question is: it seems like everything I read is that people use the site as a media gateway only. The 'blueprint' seems to follow the pattern of creating a website that links to a bunch of copyrighted television shows/movies and having people take surveys to get access. I'm sure that it's not hard to get your site shutdown for this, and it doesn't seem to be a business model that I'd really want to pursue (but I'm still early, so maybe I just don't know? You tell me.). Does anyone here have luck using CPALead for other types of sites? Would there be any value in creating a site that provides access to information (forms, reports, etc.) in exchange for completion of a survey? How does everyone else use CPALead?

    Hello and welcome to the warrior Forum This is a great place to learn

    Cpalead is not just movies and television sites it can be used for anything. As for getting shut down it can happen if you just host a site with illegal content but alot like to stream the videos which are licenced to do so such as sidereel and tvduck. Cpalead are one of the best networks around in my honest opion. You can make the gate feel like a non 3rd party advert and a part of your site which visitors love.

      Hey Andy,

      Have you had success with sidereel? If it's legal and legit to do this, I'm confident that I could make a site that at least looks nice and plays the content. I would be worried that the market would be tapped though? It seems pretty competitive.

        Well hello Adam,Yes movies sites are Good earners on the cpalead network and like i mentioned earlier is with movie sites its how you target your market or audience. Alot of people on Cpalead and myself use Sidereel, Others use places such as scripts on Facebook which can be purchased and set up from the cpamarket place in cpalead which do bring traffic to the sites in question

        I have a few suggestions if the op don't mind me placing them here. The thing with cpalead is The gateway can be used for anything not just for movies i use it for the following

        Comic Book sites-ideal for office workers who can pass a joke on to their colleges or kids who love comics.
        Poker site- (Site currently in devoplement due to wordpress error)

        The list of possibilty with the gateway is endlist and i have placed a good post on the warrior foum here for your viewing pleasure to explain.

    Another way...

    Create a site where users get points for filling in surveys.

    Once they reach a certain amount of points they can exchange them for a gift certificate or something similar.

    CPALead has a function in place and you just need a survey script for linking to it.

    I just checked out the website having never heard of CPAlead but if your looking to monetise a website effectively this would be the way to it. I may have got the completely wrong end of the stick, but what I got from this was that you probably stick a link inside CPAleads and they provide you with a a link that protects the viewing of your content until someone completes the survey...

    So the aim would be to provide some valuable content that someone wants - that way they are incentivised to fill out the survey to access your content.

    In my opinion I think it would be a great way to add a stream of income to your site. However I would not suggest you protect all the content on your site...

    There is no harm in using it and if you are driving a decent amount of traffic then you are going to start making some money very quickly, although not a substantial amount.

    Hi Adam,

    The CPALead gateway can be used for locking content. What type of content? Any type whatsoever. If you are looking for ideas, spend some time in the cpalead chatbox and you will get plenty of them. If you are not comfortable with a gateway around forms of copyrighted materials, mainly movies you should probably try a different business model. There are other things you could do with CPALead, like facebook apps but this is a more advanced topic and you will have a tough time doing it.

    And to answer your question, for me it is something like 70% movies, 20% facebook, 10% other type of content.

    Regarding the TV Niche, if you don't want to link to illegal content, you can always just wait for the episode to come out on legal sites like Hulu, TV.com, or the Networks own sites.

    And regarding your original question, I think that it is possible to monetize anything, but to really convert your visitors, it would need to be something they are desperate enough to want to fill a survey for.

    Just today, Adscend Media has banned webmasters from using the content gateway for copyrighted sites. I wonder if CPA lead will do the same.

      Hmm, that would definitely make me think that's not the route to take - I'd imagine others would follow.

      tanay46 made a good point too though, people have to be willing to trade a few minutes of their time doing something they don't want to in exchange for what you're offering up.

      I was hoping to provide a particular kind of custom report in exchange for the survey... maybe have "Premium" and standard content section.

    Please note that effective immediately, Adscend Media is prohibiting the use of our content gateway on any websites that host, embed, or link to any copyrighted content. We have conducted a thorough audit and all sites found with copyrighted content have had their gateway profile deleted. If you run a website with such content, you need to ensure that your gateway has been removed and remove it if it has not been. Rest assured however that we will be paying for all retainable earnings up to and including today.

    Going forward, the use of our gateway on a website containing copyrighted material such as movies, tv shows, songs, etc will result in an account ban and forfeiture of all commissions owed. Please take note of this as we do not wish for this to occur.

    Once more, all commissions owed up to this moment will be paid for.

    We thank you for your understanding and look forward to continuing to grow a mutually beneficial partnership with all of our publishers.

      Just hope CPALead won't be doing that..after all a very large portion of their income is from sites like these.

    Is there any way that the CPA gateways can specify how many surveys have to be done to gain access to the e-book or software I am offering??

    Anyone have any insights on this?

      No you can't do this from the gateway but the best thing you can do is get a reward site script and install it. How this works is that your visitors gain points for completing surveys and then buy your e-books with the points earned. You can set the price for each e-book at whatever you want this way and it works very well if you have good content. You can find a ton of these reward scripts on the CPALead marketplace and usually are around 40$.

      You'll probably need a reward script. Another option would be to just enable the high paying surveys(How Dumb are You, Take The IQ Challenge etc) which all pay above 5$.

        Yeah, the more I look into CPALead the worse it looks. I've taken several surveys through them just to test and they all want my phone number... meh. I guess if you're really desperate to see a tv show you might consider it worth it? But if I were filling out this survey and came to the last step and it required my phone number... well... my head would explode.

        I've read of others warriors having issues getting conversions with CPAlead and I think I understand why. Any thoughts?

          I've heard that Adscend Media have better converting offers and surveys. They're another incentive network. They've just banned the use of their gateway on movie/tv sites, but you should be able to use their gateway since you're providing ebooks/reports.

          A third option would be to buy a gateway script like wplockz, and use it to display incentive offers from any normal cpa networks you are a member of like Azoogle.
