May sound like a VERY general question guys, but i'm considering promoting some CPA offers. I've never used this platform and could use some insight.

    The majority of people there promote other dating sites or products to help people date more (teeth whitening muscle, etc).

    Get targeted as possible to ensure a high click-thru rate (CTR), like 0.20% to 0.55%...and it must convert as well. Since POF is a CPM model, you get charge everytime your ad display - so a good campaign is one with a lot of clicks.

    I find that ethnic-based, age-based, and promoting offers based on certain interests work best. Be targeted as much as possible - and promote offers based on those demographics.

    Hmm...maybe I should share a successful campaign running now?

      Funny pics can give higher ctr but lesser conversions, this happened to me many times.

    I have been using them successfully. However, I have only promoted short form submits until now, no Clickbank products or free trials.

    There are 2 things that are very import when advertising on POF:

    * Demographics
    * CTR

    Your minimum CTR should be %0.1. It can be easy to reach this number with some campaigns and hard with others, but it's not a good thing to work with a CTR below .1 when you are paying per impressions.

    The demographics are also very important. You can promote many offers with POF in many niches (not only dating), but it's essential that you find the right public to target. If you choose the wrong demographics you have no way to succeed.

    CTR is definitely important - you want to test quite a few images for each campaign. The image is going to have the largest effect on CTR in the ad itself.

    Be creative and surprise them with your images - don't use the same images that everyone else is because your demographic will quickly go banner blind.

    Hey thanks everyone for your insightful comments. I must say one of my main gripes with POF is that they have sooooo many damm RULES. I often think, who in the hell is actually making any money promoting on this network.

    I'm not going to lie, I REALLY just feel like asking them to refund my $25, but I may give it go.

      They are a lot less strict then Facebook is.

      You'll want a much larger budget then $25 to be able to test any offers on there.

          POF used to be a very powerful platform...it still is to a certain extent, if you can read the data, and are willing to test the **** out of things, but with the flood of "new" people hitting it up after the release of a couple of recent products, it definitely isn't as easy as it once was to scale campaigns when you find the winners as there are more and more people dividing the clicks.

      Not sure what your goals are, but if they're $500 or less a day than I'd say it's definitely worth it for you.

    The problem is that the most majority of marketers don't understand it very well . As a result they try it and immediately decide that POF doesn't work .

    You also need to be aware that CTR is a big factor in the success of your POF advertising campaign .

    POF gives me my second best ROI after Facebook. BUT...

    You have to have your target demographics right for what you offer. Most people go broad, and because it is a CPM network they burn through their cash quicker than a newbie in a Las Vegas lap dancing club.

    If your target market campaign is 40 year old fat women who smoke and live in Watford, you have nailed it. If you try women aged 18-60 looking for a date, prepare to lose your money.

    Just like any other traffic source, POF can be a great way to promote offers, since there is no keyword targeting option, you NEED to make sure you nail your demographic dead on and have a very convincing ad copy

    I posted this in another site but one thing that people seem to overlook on PoF is the Session Depth and LogIn Count targeting options. In my opinion these two options can really make or break your campaign.
    Session Depth is important because of the routines that normal users have when logging in. They will check their messages, see who checked them out, look at the pretty people that have and return messages. During that time they are less likely to click on ads. So a safe bet would be to start showing your ads at a later/deeper session depth. Start at say 5-8 and start tweaking it from there.
    LogIn Count will help you target older or newer members. Those that are newer will not have seen the ads that we constantly throw at them. Test new creatives on larger login counts since these users have seen it all by now.

    Bidding on PoF is you get what you pay for. Its not like Facebook where you can bid 50cents and end up paying 34cents. You bid 50cents cpm you pay 50cents cpm. the higher the bid the closer to the front of the line you will be. ive been told in order to get some volume and better quality traffic bid over 55cents cpm.

    I have spent close to $10,000 over there and I think its a profitable source of really targeted traffic.

    I beg to differ with those who keep on talking about targeting.

    I've had immense success direct linking a dating offer from maxbounty with minimal targeting if any.

    Lets face it, POF is a dating site and almost everyone there is SINGLE and probably searching and not just there for Kicks Unlike for FB or adwords.

    Have a good Adcopy and identify an offer that converts and you're good to go!~

      It's true, POF has a turnover rate of something like 20%: people leave when they find someone.. and if it doesn't work out, they come back. Facebook is different because once you have a profile, you're done.

      A lot of people make the mistake of rolling over their Facebook ads onto POF and expecting the same results. Dating traffic vs. Social traffic are 2 different beasts! The good news is that they can both be tamed

      I tried a campaign on POF a while ago, didn't get the results I wanted so I stopped. I was caught up in the 'Buy every new product' phase at the time so I was easily distracted.

      I might give it another shot though.

        We've got a LOT more awesome features added to the platform since you've last tested. For example, our conversion tracker pixel fires back information about which demographic was your best/worst converting demographic. Using this information, you can then exclude the non-performing demographics and profit.

      I don't think you can blame them just because your ads didn't work one time, and you had a terrible experience. There are plenty of people making money there, so you should probably focus more on how you can improve your own campaigns.

    Try using their demographic research that tey provide. They basically tell who to target based on the keyword you enter. It all there. For a get ripped product I would use the key word gym or fitness as that would be something that people would put in there profile as an interest or hobby.

      How are they compared with FB to get ads approved? Are they as strict with pictures (for ex., showing cleavage)?

      Also do you find more success with landing pages or direct linking on POF?

    Ok so I started two campaigns today on pof. One was through peerfly and one was through clickbank. On pof it shows that I got 15 clicks on my peerfly ad and 57 clicks on my clickbank ad. So I went to both clickbank and peerfly and both say zero clicks. I am confused.

      I've been using PoF for a while now and have made some good money out of it. Generally I like it - the only thing that bugs me is that over the last few weeks their ad moderation has become very inconsistent. I keep getting ads rejected for incorrect reasons, then after re-submitting it a few times it eventually gets accepted. For example, landing page rejected for containing pop-ups, even though it has no pop-ups.

    I had a really good, I mean really good tutorial for POF I think it was pdf I got for free, or wait Maybe i paid 7 bucks but it was awesome let me search for it

    I found this tut I think I paid 7 bucks for it, best I have ever found, its not some 10 pager its like 50 pages let me see if i can find where i got it
