I'm buying my own domain name for some offline advertising and was wondering if there is a preferred type of redirect to use. For instance, at one domain company I'm with they give the choice of http redirects or frame redirects . You just enter it into the hosting company's forwarding form so you don't have to set it up on your own host. Or is it better to set it up on my hosting compnay and use a redirect on the page itself (and if so, is it better to do the meta refresh or a php redirect)?

Finally, does anyone know if azoogle updates instantly? I tested my new domain (and used the http redirect) and didn't see any clicks listed so that concerned me. I had seen though some to the offer the day before from visitors on one of my blogs so I know that it registered that way. Thanks for any help.

Using frame redirects your visitors will think that they are still on one site, when in fact they are on another. They'll see the url of the first site in their browser's address bar, but they'll actually be navigating within a completely different site on a different domain name. This method is often referred to as 'cloaking', and can be used used to display a more memorable url to a visitor. This is the method commonly used to hide a phishing website.

If you opt for HTTP redirect your domain name will not be properly indexed and listed by search engines. For those pages other than your index page your forwarding address will be listed instead. So, you might find that your website is properly indexed and your domain name is not indexed at all.

If you use this method with sub domains you might find it difficult to see your site for a while, because sub-domains can take a while to propagate on the internet.
Also, visitors will not the full url displayed in the address bar of their browser.

    Thanks Vincenzo and Brian,

Do cpa networks prefer one form of redirection over another one? Would they want my domain to remain once a visitor goes to the actual site? If not, then I won't use it. Also, this isn't really for search engine traffic as it would be offline.

The network won't care if you redirect or not. If you decide to redirect and however you decide to do it should be decided upon what you need to do on your end.

Some offers don't allow iframing though so be careful with iframing. Generally you can iframe an offer in it's entirety but I would probably still ping your AM just to make sure it's OK to do so.
