My little gifts to you folks
Usually, in this business you will need to test a lot. If you have lots of money to do it, then it's no big deal. But, I assume that most people like me don't have much money to try everything out before you get a profitable campaign
So, in order to cut down cost you will have to try various ways to save as much as possible. In many cases, you will need to try different landers to see which one convert best, and that process can be very costly when it comes to PPV. For media buy, you will need to build different banners as well, and it can cost you some extra money
So what is the solution? Instead of hiring a professional to make your lander/banner, you can try to make them on your own.
Ok, I know that you are thinking right now. You may think that a newbie can't make good lander and banner like a pro.
That is wrong, I tell ya
A landing page doesn't need to look good, it only need to look Convincing. When a user click on your ad, do they really care how beautiful your lander look? Hell no, they are there because of your product, what you can offer them. One of my old campaigns, I had a pretty fugly lander, just some lines and a button to link to the offer, but I score like 50-60% conversion rate on that one. Why? Because the users go to my lander to look for information, and I gave them exactly what they want, so who care if it look good or bad?
So, instead of investing money on the people who make lander, you should use that to buy a few books and learn to write better sale letters. That really pay off. (sorry to the people who make a living on landers and banners)
Talking about programming, I know about HTML as much as my granma know about cell phones, but I have some tools, and one of them is Web Serif. That soft cost a little bit, but it really do the job just fine. You can purchase it or *cough* download it with torrent *cough* like me *cough*.
So guys, don't blow too much money on landers, especially on PPV, you will need to test lots of them and find out which one work. One of my guys charge around $50 for a lander. Of course I can't make something close to his quality, but hey, I don't want to blow $500 on 10 landers without knowing which one work before I hit a profitable campaign.
When you want to edit a lander and don't want to change it too much, try PageBreeze HTML editor
For banners, you can try GIMP, that soft is free or ACDSee, work like wonder. I made several banners with ACDSee and some of them has CTR as high as 5%. Again, just buy the soft or, ahem, torrent
You will need to take a little time to learn all of these, but gradually, you will get the idea. We all were born with a brain so use it wisely. Remember every pro lander makers start the same as you.
So, those are my late Christmas and new year gifts to you all. I hope you have a successful year in 2011.
Hint hint hint: for PPV, you only have 5 sec before the users click on the X button, try to make something a little bit shocking to capture their attention.
Same thing for media buy banner, create something that make people stop reading and look at your ad, place them in your shoes. Ask yourself: what would I react if I see this banner?
