Question to Amazon experts

Hi guys,

I have few amazon sites. My question is if someone comes to my site with the intention of purchasing some product but his location is UK or Italy or some other country other than US in that case will they get redirected to Amazon UK? Or will they land on Amazon US page?

And even if they do land on Amazon US page after moving to amazon UK if they purchase anything will that still credit into our account?

One more question is if someone else is promoting products from amazon and it is not sold directly by amazon and amazon is just acting as a medium in that case if we get a sale to that product we get paid?

I request if you know the answer then please spend sometime to reply with the answer.

When user clicks the amazon link from your site and they make purchase you will get credited, amazon uk, amazon u.s.a doesn't matter as sales are cookie based. if they buy more then 1 product you will get credited for all of them. You will get credited even if product is not directly sold by the amazon.

    • Be careful, I heard several times already that if you want to be an affiliate for UK and US, you'd have to sign up for both, your US account won't get you any earnings if your visitors buy from US. I'm not sure if this is some rumor or not so better go and verify before assuming you'll be fine with the US account only.

You must register individually with Amazon US / Canada / UK / France / Germany. The available product categories, commission amounts vary and so does the method of payment. European tracking numbers are also different (end with -21).

I have one site directed to Amazon US products. For the UK market I had to add a separate link on my site directly to Amazon UK. I have made a few sales which are only displayed on my Amazon UK Associates page (I will get paid in pounds).

In that case it will be very difficult to monetize because we cannot put some content like if you are from UK click on this link, Japan click here, etc so no use of international traffic for amazon.

        Why can't you put that?

There is a WordPress plugin Amazon Affiliate link localizer which allows you to enter your affiliate ID for each country so you'll get commision if someone buys a product which is available in their region.

You will only get credit for sales from US traffic. You need Amazon
Link Localizer which is a plugin AND you need to sign up
for all of the other Amazon Associate programs in other
countries such as UK and Austrailia.

There are two plugins: Amazon Link Localizer and Wordpress Amazon Associate. In both cases you still need to register with each country and add the tracking codes from each country. If you do not add tracking codes any commissions go to the plugin author.

Some people feel the plugin slows their sites down (I have not checked that out).

They only work if the other country has the same product (with same ASIN number), otherwise the visitor is taken to Amazon US. I have had a number of sales using these plugins, mainly books. An issue I had recently with one of my niche sites was that Amazon UK did carry products but they were different brands than the US site so the plugin's would not work and I had to provide a direct link to the UK site.

hey that sounds good then. In case if you don't mind can I have a look at your sites? The reason I am asking is I can arrange the products on my site in the same way you does. I use to get the link from the amazon page directly and put on my site but now after reading your reply I am getting the feeling bby installing the plugins may be I won't need to do anything manual?
