Advice on Ad spending

Hi,

I am trying to promote a novel I have written and self published on Amazon Kindle, Smashwords, and Apple ibook store. I have seen a lot of advertising for google adds, facebook ads, etc. I am not sure how to reach a mass audience on Facebook etc. for free but I don't want to spend $50 a day on ad's that will not get me customers. I would really like to know what is the best bang for the buck and what is the best strategies for advertising both online in general and , more specifically, on social media sites like facebook.

Any info and ideas would be appreciated. Maybe there are free or cheap options I am not aware of.

Thanks,

J

My Advice is spend what you can... Start small and test test test...

Find a campaign that pays you rather than you just paying and losing money.

Regardless you should get started and learn what you can along the way...

Many times this means losing money but gaining knowledge and experience which is worth much more than money...

You can lose money and make more from the knowledge and experience you gain which you will never lose...

Yahoo ppc has worked well for me. Adwords would be the other big one... Facebook ppc wasn't a big winner for me and cost as much as google. Alternatively there are alot of other search engines that you can advertise with as well.

Creating a website to promote your product should help your promotion efforts and branding Big time...

Then there's always free ads... Type in free advertising in google and get to work.

I'd recommend starting small as well. I have campaigns on both adcenter and facebook. My monthly budget for adcenter is set at $100 and my daily for fb is $3.33 which is also about $100 per month. The one thing I do really like about fb is being able to target by interests. You might do well on fb if you target interests that are inline with the subject matter of your novel. I get way more clicks out of adcenter because I always have a hard time finding low bid keywords on fb.
