Let's say you have $20 to start a test campaign. You go to your social media site and after getting everything set up, you have to decide between CPM or CPC. Which one do you choose and why?

I remember being in that positions once. I was doing a dating offer on POF and the minimum ad spend was $25. I took that and loaded it in my POF and set the daily spend to $25. The next day I made a profit of $10. Most people would say do cpc but I like cpm because if you don't like losing money then you'll make sure your ctr is off the hook.

For Fcaebook, I guess CPC will convert better.. why don't you test $10 with both and then share the results.. it would be awesome!

I'm assuming you're talking about Facebook. CPC converts much better as of July 20, 2011.

  • Yeah man always start with CPC. Then, determine after you have your CTR, if it makes sense to convert to CPM. If you have a high CTR, then you can get cheaper clicks with CPM. The problem is it comes down to testing... and typically, CPC is the way to test.
