Offline CPA Marketing - Live Case Study! - Targeting ~30,000 People In A City of Over 2.7 Million!

Hello everyone,

I am about to start a offline CPA marketing campaign and I will be posting my progress and results here.

This is what I plan on doing...

I live in Chicago, IL which is a very large city, but I will be targeting a very specific niche, around 30,000 people out of 2,700,000. I have a way to target those 30,000 people.

I plan on setting up a webpage that will provide valuable content aimed specifically at the niche. I will also have multiple links to multiple RELEVANT CPA offers on there. I already have web-hosting, so a new domain will cost about $10.

I plan on generating traffic to the website using flyers. I got a quick quote, and I can get about 5,000 small color flyers for about $80.

I plan on distributing the flyers by having other people do it. I might also be doing it myself. I know some people that might be willing to help me out for free if I just buy them lunch or something. Since these are people that are good friends of mine, I don't mind occasionally treating them to lunch anyways, so I won't count it in the budget, but for those of you that must have a number, I plan on spending $60 or so.

Okay, so the entire campaign is going to cost $90 ($150 if you count the lunch).


Ok, here are some things that I am considering, and I welcome constructive feedback on my ideas.

- Creating a Facebook fanpage so they can "like" my website.
- Creating a Twitter account so they can follow the website and I can tweet them.
- Creating a opt-in box and build a list. I know A LOT of people will say that this probably the most important part, but I don't want to pay $20 a month for Aweber without being able to fully utilize it. Does anyone know of any GOOD free auto-responders I can use? What are the disadvantages of using free auto-responders?


So these are the definitive steps (ACTION!) that I will be taking:

1.) Buy the domain.
2.) Set up the website.
3.) Buy the flyers.
4.) Distribute the flyers.
5.) See the results.


I plan on starting this project this weekend as it is the only time when I am free due to my JOB which I hate.


My biggest concern right now is designing the website. Does anyone know of any FREE and effective CPA WordPress themes?

      Make it happen, may condider using an sms service, people are more apt to read the text than the email. Just a thought. Great luck on this.

    Many times threads like these shut down because only 1 out of 50 times does it actually transpire into a useful case study. Prove us wrong!

    With that said, that is awesome that you are taking action and jumping into offline traffic. I did a whole lot off offline and still do quite a bit (though not flyers anymore....thank goodness).

    Wishing you tremendous success dude...as with anything, be sure to test the heck out of your offline campaigns and treat them as methodically as you would an online campaign. After optimizing your campaign, then scale!

    mailchimp is not bad and they allow for free acct i think up to 2,000

    Im working on the same thing here in Orlando florida and though i am paying a little bit more on flyers and business cards, but good luck you seem to have a great plan just stick it out . im pretty sure you will be succesful.

      Wow, awesome plan. I myself am going to try the offline CPA and have a plan similar to yours. Keep us updated.

      Also, would you mind PM'ing me the source for your super cheap color copies? So far the cheapest quote I got was for .06/copy (I think these were for full size copies though).

    Alright, I finally got around to purchasing the domain and partially created the landing page. I just am going to design and order the flyers, and I hope the landing page is done by the time I receive them in the mail.

    Since I already have hosting, I spent less then $10 on the domain and it comes with 1 year of WhoisGuard for free.

    Total amount of money invested so far: less than $10.

    Here is another update, I just purchased 5,000 full colored handouts, it is going to cost a little more than I thought it would, but I think these are going to be worth it!

    Facebook is not as powerful as Email, but it is more viral. So if you are going big, then you should do Facebook as it goes Viral, but if you want quality suscribers, you should go by email.

    5000 Handouts will probably get you about 3-10% commission rate depending on how targeted or nice your handouts are, and if you hand it out to interested people or just bypassers. So expect around 200 Leads.

    That sounds like a solid plan. I think social networking advertising is huge in this one like Facebook, you'll be able to advertise to the friends of the people you are targeting who most likely have similar interests, etc...

      This year I have been working on an ebook.

      What I did Before the ebook was a neat little money maker that will pay for your expenses.

      I got aweber and used their free trial for 30 days. Had an account with peerfly. When someone put their name and email, one of the offers from peerfly was my link for the thank you page. Made a dollar for each sign up. This isn't much. This business is great because of the very small overhead we have.

      I want get the word out on this neat little money maker that noobies can use.

    Good job, I like the fact that people are taking advantage more and more of the flyer distribution industry. The fact is, conversions, if done right, can be way higher than online traffic.

    People complain about having to work a 9-5, I work from 8am to 7-8pm. Having said that, I don't have much time for IM.

    I just want people to know that I have placed a order of 5,000 flyers so I can lock in a special price, but I haven't designed one yet. I will be getting to it this weekend.

    Hi everyone,

    I just want to know that I am still working on this project. I have finished designing the flyer, and I am redesigning the website. All I have to do is approve the proof, and they will process and ship me my flyers.

    My current concern is will be "Baby Plan" host gator hosting be enough to withstand the traffic I generate to my website with the flyers as I plan to pass out 5,000 of them.

      Baby plan will be perfectly fine - it's what I used for all of my niche sites combined.

    Im planning to do some offline marketing as well.not flyers since I dont have the time nor money to do that, Im planning to reach around 25k people every week,thats 100k every month give or take,the offer Im planning to use is online loans since everybody needs money nowadays(;-)
    I still dont know if Im using the offer that pays $40 or the one that pays $10,of course the $10 one its easier to fill and faster,if it works I will post again here to let you guys know my system.
