I think I just learned how to make something go viral

Is 1 million views of targeted traffic alot on youtube if you're using lower conversion things like email/zip submit? How much money can you get in that situation from a million views?

I feel like I know how I can get each one of my videos to gain 1-2million views if I post 20 over the course of a month I mean how much money can I make? If I get 20,000million to 40,000million views of targeted traffic how much then?

I feel like in terms of youtube I've somewhat figured out traffic and haven't even released my first video yet. Just gone done researching the hell out of it for about a week and something just completely clicked tonight about how to drive targeted traffic. Now I guess SEO would help right?

Let's do the math. If you get 1 million views per month and only 20% of the people click through your links beneath the video, that means 200k people to your website or offer. Now if you are direct linking an email submit offer, let's say it converts at 1% (let's be conservative). 200k x 0.01 = 2000 conversions, if the offer's payout is $1.5, that is $3000 per month on autopilot. Now image having 20 videos like that.

    Hey there,

Sounds like you have done all the research but now it's time to implement what you have read and see how it works test all theories out, as to how much you'll make?? No one can answer that, it depends on your videos, landing page, offer etc.

There are too many factors that need to be taken into account to determine your potential profit.

You say you have figured out traffic but have yet to post a video, even if you have figured out the traffic do you know how to create a converting video??

Get out there and test, stop theorising and start putting videos together

    Good luck

Your next step is to actually make vids and make sure your stats work the way you want them to.

Depending on what your vids are about, you may or may not get anything. An awesome vid may mean absolutely nothing if nobody ever picks up the keywords for it, or if it generates something like eighty zillion views and zero clicks.

You needa check on stuff by actually running tests.

Million views to your youtube videos doesn't mean million views to your website. You need to find out what is the CTR (Click-thru rate).

So far, through my experience.. Youtube doesn't really give you "buyers" visitors to your website. Yes, they'll no doubt send you visitors to your sites but I can honestly tell you that there will be much lesser "buyers" than you expected.

Hope you can prove me wrong with that.

    All the best, Good luck,

Am I looking for buyers? I'm just looking for leads. Simple email/zip submit thats it. $1.40 per submit if I get 5,000 submits thats quite a bit of money. I think if I'm able to create a stream of millions of people interested in a certain electronic product, then offer them a chance to win that product, I don't see how it won't convert honestly.

I probably have a lot to learn I'm sure I'm going to dive into search terms now and see what type of role they play but if I need to do backlinking I think I know how to do that too.

I don't know all I know is last week I had no idea how to get traffic and today I feel like I can get millinons of targeted viewers. If I just trop an offer they can't refuse even if my landing page is only 90% I mean who's going to refuse it?

I used to get all excited about getting clicks, but soon realized it doesn't mean crap without conversions man. Focus on making videos that are about getting those conversions and clicks will come.

See thats the thing! I KNOW how to do video editing. I did it for 9 years. And I also own my own studio for recording and am very good with sounds too (sound engineering is my real specialty).

This stuff was my original love and hobby before finding out about youtube marketing. I know how to do special fx and all that stuff. I know precisely what markets I will be targeting too and which ones are successful (you can see it eveywhere if you just research thoroughly).

As far as making conveting videos honestly I have spent at least 30 hours in the last week doing nothing but watching HIGH CONVERTING videos and I learned the recipe. You DO need to be somewhat good at video editing but you do not need to be a professional producer. As long as the videos are crafted neatly and look professional, I think its really the idea and title thats going to pull in millions of views.

I have carefully created spin off ideas (so far have 9) that I just feel like I know for a fact are going to get LOTS of TARGETED attention.
So the only thing I'm worried about now is like people said. I'm a newbie. I don't actually know how to do landing pages. But I feel like if I can consistently show some of the older members on here that I can generate tons of targeted traffic that they will hopefully help me tweak the other stuff like landing pages and optimizing the video for searches and what not.

I just know this is something I can do and be good at, I know it. And I'm really so excited I'm going to start working on my first video today. I really just saw the "trend" of what triggers traffic and I saw so many different spins on that trend that were successful I honestly don't see how this can fail. I probably sound pretty naive too about this but I'm GOING TO MAKE IT WORK.

Watch and see guys I GUARANTEE my first video gets hundreds of thousands of views if not millions. I just need the help of more experienced people to tweak things as I update and things move along.

I'm not trying to get them to my website. First I make a video on say an IPAD. I strap the IPAD to a minature controlled radio airplane and fly it around my local park and title it something like "IPAD NOW UNLOCKS NEW FLYING FEATURES" then at the end of the video I crash the IPAD because I bought it broken but noones really knows that.

Anyway I have tons of ideas like this and these are all the types of videos the seem to get tidal waves of traffic. But I can also make VERY professional much more targeted videos with ideas I'd rather not release. I simply make the video, then put a link for a free ipad on the bottom.
If I have 1 million viewers, theres going to be THOUSANDS minimum clicking that link to win a free ipad and putting their info in.

So I don't know maybe I'm looking at this wrong I just see hundreds of ways I can make hi impact "mini commercials" for the big boy electronics companies then slap them on youtube and make thousands right? I'm sure I'm missing something. But I still think if a video is good and original enough people will see it eventually regardless.

Why don't you build a list instead?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[5273443].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author RedShifted
Well I will build a list but honestly I just want to perfect getting targeted traffic first. I'm going to design a simple video today with the principles in mind that I will be using for my larger videos then I'm going to do a bit of optimizing to see how fast I can get it noticed.

I do definitely feel like I can get a ton of targeted traffic like I said but people are right I need to test things and actually see if this will work. Once I see I have a working strategy than I'll implement simple landing pages/squeeze pages and start monetizing the traffic.

I'm going to use strong themes from music too in my videos to build anticipation they are going to all be very well crafted with excellent ideas. I am not using the machine gun approach ken recommends about uploading dozens of videos a month. I will carefully craft every video because I really believe its a good idea that gets traffic not just uploading tons of **** vids and seeing which ones stick. I mean that works too but in real life it usually converts to a ton of wasted time when you already knew in the back of your head you were submitting less than quality vids. And I also have seen lots of guys on this forum make **** vids like just making a vid of a picture of an IPAD and "WIN AN IPAD" title then the video ges 30 views and they wonder why its not working.

You HAVE TO ACTUALLY ADVERTISE for the company. I imagine it like making commericals. Make something short, concise, original, engaging, interesting, unique.... then submit a video like that on youtube. Post it on 20 different facebook accounts to as many friends as you can, get it on forums, do some backlinking, and if its a great video like it should be its going to make money. Or at least thats how I feel. Still new to all this but this is definitely going to be my strategy with YT.

Not sure if you have Google analytics installed, if not, you can use it to correlate the youtube views with site traffic and get a good feel of the value of the traffic.

your plan is good, just like everyone else said: test, test, test.
you may be surprised at the ctr on youtube.

wow you've received millions of views per video? Was I reading that right? Anyway, if your goal is to make money from your videos you post on youtube....I'm assuming that's your goal...even though the title of this thread was about making something go viral.

Anyway, yeah put a link in the description field on youtube and track how many clicks you get per video and also how many conversions you get. I personally would love to see a product like this....that shows how to create a killer video that goes viral.

Also, add you url and title and beginning and end of video...so that when someone views outside of YouTube they still see your url in the video itself.

Millions of hits that quick with that many videos seems unrealistic to me. But if you say you can do it then why the hell wouldn't you?

Yes well what I did was go through video after video after video only looking at videos with millions of hits and I tried to refine them down in my head.

I seperated things like review videos, contest videos & competition videos, or anything that is INTENTIONALLY made to drive some traffic. Those tend to not be that consistent. Although I did notice which was pretty much common sense all the review videos that were unorganized or a guy just sitting there talking as his "review" didn't tend to do very well at all.

While others who made a bulleted list and organized the review, comparing it to statistics from other products, or just doing the review like you might a mini thesis for college,, THOSE truely *educational* reviews WILL do good if the product your reviewing first has a lot of interest in it. Otherwise if you review something noone knows anything about, sure you'll get a small amount of reviews but most the time it looks like little to nothing.

So I realized I need to isolate 1 thing that all these hi traffic videos were doing well.

And what I noticed is this trend of electronics + magic.

If you can combine these elements in anyform, in a well crafted video (thats another thing I'm great with doing background music/special fx/etc) with an outrageous title like "MacBook air unlocks new rocket feature"

then in the video you literally do something outrageous. Tie a few rockets to a broken macbook air you got off CL for free, and rocket that bitch into the sky or just do ANYTHING outrageous in the video.
I have noticed on youtube people combining these 2 elements of electronics + magic seem to ALWAYS get a ton of traffic.

You can imply that you found some new crazy feature in an IPAD too. Do something funny/entertaining in the video. It doesn't have to be true. But you also should NOT let your viewers down. People go on youtube to be entertained, and I'm really seeing the videos that get the most traffic are all just WELL MADE ENTERTAINING VIDEOS.

So I'm taking the aspect of magic/electronics and converting it into 100s of ideas. Titles that once people look at them they will say "what the ....?"

There are also some very stupid simple things I've seen a lot of people do on youtube and again it almost always guarantees traffic.

Doing a "drop test" for an expensive new piece of electronics. Again you should aim to not use working electronics for this. Look at the kid who dropped his IPAD from his bed, got 1 million views in a few months on that video.

Then there is people taking their stuff and putting it in their microwaves, these ideas attract people because they're outrageous. Do that do a macbook air and put a CPA link on the bottom lol.
And I should mention these are ideas I'm trying to think of outside of the actual decent ideas I have written down. I'm constructing very outrageous videos that offer value to the viewer. I insist no not having some type of background noise whether its a music track I cut up on my own or me speaking with music.

But the point is when you advertise your CPA offers imagine yourself as a commerical director. What would *I* want to see? What type of video would EVERYONE see the title for and be unable to resist?
If you have issues getting traffic in the begining try to tie you video to a high traffic video similar to yours and do a "video response" in the other videos comment section. Tons of way to get jumpstarts on videos you know are going to get traffic theres about 1000 different ways to recommend videos you can do it on facebook, forums, youtube, anywhere.

But yeh I'm working on my second video now yesterday was just a test copy/paste video to see how copying viral videos works or if it works at all. I see this is not exactly a consistent idea of any kind so I will just stick to making my own original "viral videos". I can't be sure they will all turn out that way but I just make them with all the features I'd imagine to be in a viral video (or mix elements together).

Still trying to get good at this and I'm on a mission so I'll keep all you guys updated once I really start slipping some good productions out there.

    Just do it!

I have a huge fondness for Youtube videos, in fact it is the entire reason why I am in IM today.

See, I was active in an online community and they had a new members promotion thing going where if people signed up using your referral link you would get points. Think Facebook-type viral game though this was before FB.

I made a vid on Youtube and got hundreds sign up using my link. Then one day I found out about CPA and it hit me, "wow its so easy to get people to sign up!" I haven't looked back since.
