Adscend Media REsponds to Facebook Lawsuit

Thanks for alerting me to this story, speaking to them more on MOnday about what happened.

This past week, Adscend Media along with the Washington State Attorney general, sued Adscend Media claiming that they were defacto spamming Facebook with "likes." This is a curious extension of the CAN_SPAM laws, because it claims that likes, even when generated by other users, are somehow regulated by CAN-SPAM. Adscend Media, however has responded that they are not involved whatsoever with the claims being brought by Facebook, and has called them "absolutely and unequivocally false."

Interested to see how this will turn out since I know the exact method that was happening here and more networks that were involved with it (allegedly). Facebook's IPO is coming so a cleanup is in the works.

    Spamming likes?

That's a new one. I have an idea what they were doing but your blog post doesn't really spill it. What are details?

      Publication, not blog

Anyway, I have no idea to be honest. I read the complaint and it almost sounds like THEY are confused what the hell happened. They seem to think somehow that content locking software spams facebook. They are obviously completely wrong...

They didn't even bother to call up Adscend and find out what adscend does. They assumed that content locking has something to do with locking videos and then sending likes to FB. It's complete BS.

This isn't even a valid lawsuit. People should understand how things work.

Imagine someone was clickjacking likes... heh

Not sure what the point of going to court over it for though. If a judge starts considering likes at the same level as email... something is wrong lol.

Adscend from what I've heard had NOTHING whatsoever to do it. This is the general industry talk from people who know.

Of course they are going to say they didn't do it.

I also heard that MegaUpload is innocent too.
