Getting Started in CPA - Direct Linking?

I have finally got accepted into a few CPA networks affiliate.com, Millnic, Monetizeit and waiting on a few others still but I am looking to get going and take some action and get my feet wet.

My first question?
Is direct linking a waste of time or is direct linking still a good strategy to test the cpa offer and make money? I noticed that I was recieving low quality scores from google when i quickly made a campaign. Or should I use a landing page?

    I've had some success with direct linking, but it's important to pick real solid keywords and don't get your ad shown in the content network - otherwise your impressions skyrocket, your CTR is terrible, and you get no love in terms of AdWords traffic.
