Hi,
I would like to go away from 100% Google adwords traffic to make money on cpa - affiliates offers using cpc on direct linking:

I tried following networks but none offer a positive ROI, on the contrary its like bleeding to death:

adbrite cpc
bing
facebook (zero revenues vs clicks so high and immediate it looks like automatic clics)
clicksor (useless)
7search (useless)
looksmart (useless)

never tried adclickmedia due to (at the time lack of https to pay)

Positive ROI

Lead impact on cpv

Negative

directrafic
clicksor

Text ads

infolinks : totally worthless depite 100 USD spent

My spending on GG are in the 5 figures. So its not a money issue.

I am just puzzled for example :

Bing same campaign as gg : totally crap - no conversion - no impressions - despite talking to their support several times.

I tried GG display : long and painful as no conversions.

Any one has experience with direct linking trafic source - not GG working ?

Thanks

N.

Pick one traffic source and commit to stick with it until you get it to convert.

    Stop jumping around so much.

I agree. This is why many people fail.

Joining a network, creating a couple of campaigns and expecting miracles is not the way you do it.

For social traffic, It took me a few months of constant creation of campaigns when I started with them, until I started getting profitable. I got to a point where I mastered it and had no problem getting my creatives to perform well and generating a positive ROI. Same goes with several other different traffic types.

After working a while, at a certain point, it will just start clicking, and you'll know get better and better, and profitable campaigns will become reality.

Of course, there are some networks with junk traffic, that is not worth pursuing and putting your time and money into.

What I suggest is to select one direction of the main paid traffic categories: social, ppc, ppv, adult ad networks, display, media buying. Select one, and stick to the most established networks for the type of traffic you choose. Be ready to put some time and money, success will eventually come.

Exactly! I've been doing affiliate marketing full-time for about 5 years now, and when I started on Facebook it took me a full month of constant grinding to get something stable and converting.

But when it rains it pours especially with large volume ad networks like Facebook.

Haha, Scanning thru this post made me laugh.

Anyway. Here are two quick notions.

Direct linking = a terrible idea.

Avoiding Adwords = a terrible idea.

(No offense) but I can tell your mindset is "take the easy way out".

And that's why your not having much luck. The secret is to increase your perspective.

          Here's how you do that.

Assumption 1: You do not want to use adwords because you know you cannot direct link using Google's platform.

Solution: Create a landing page that does not have any affiliate links or opt-in page forms on it.

Instead have your traffic download a report - and include your affiliate link or squeeze page link at the end of it.

Assumption 2: You are not aware that direct linking with random ad networks is damn near impossible to stay profitable long-term.

Solution: Understand that ad-networks and offers you do not own - (that you are direct-linking to) are out of your control.

Either of which could be shut down at any moment. And you have nothing to fall back on. It's like walking on a tight rope without a clip holding you up in case you fall.

What to do: Master adwords (best traffic available online).

Master the art of delivering value (to create a long term sustainable business)

          Cheers,

          Justin

That's a brilliant idea right there Justin. Never thought of that

            Hi Justin,

Excellent advice & I agree Google offers u some good & targeted traffic..& it isn't that difficult to master google adwords but the only problem with Google Adwords is that they don't let you promote affiliate marketing...too much guidelines & stuff that don't let u through..even if u have landing pages..they are plenty of stuff they don't like.. affiliate links or redirecting links to other sites & so forth

I like what u suggested..the report thing...but how much that converts is still a mystery but nevertheless worth trying..

            Cheers!

Disagreement can be healthy, and this is one such time! ;-)

The expression flog a dead horse springs to mind. If something doesn't convert why on earth would you keep with it and buying more traffic until it converts. On that basis you'll run out of money!

And if that traffic source is 100% bot - as many are - you'll never get it to convert!

Unless you have a way of converting bots. Now that really would impress me!

..my view is small test campaigns. Those campaigns that show any sign of converting keep trying, but anything that looks hopeless get rid of. And of course monitor your traffic 24/7 for any sign of fraud traffic!

Warning Before You Buy Traffic – Make sure you’re using a fraud detection tool to flag any fraud/fake traffic. Fraud can be as high as 30%+ even with so called reputable ad-networks. Works on all media buys incl. banners, pops etc.

    Hi all, nice thread.
Heard good things about adbrite. But I want to see an example of it and could not.
Can you point a site or url, so I can check the way the ad shows up?

    Thanks.

You should pay attention only on one campaign .This would heart you permanently if you will use different platform for your affiliate marketing .You should select one of them for example Facebook and then pay full attention on it.

Honestly, you're hopping around a bit too much instead of focusing on mastering one traffic source and profiting off of it. Pick one traffic source. Test, optimize, repeat until you've mastered it. Then move onto another. Good luck!

Let me assure you that bing and 7search are some of the cheapest clicks/high clicks on the net. Its all about how you target and the offer. It also has to do with good copy but since I'm no copy writer I really can't help you with that aspect.

But for da*m sure I can tell you that the PPC networks you used are some of the best.

You have to focus on one traffic source at a time.
