Collecting Name on Squeeze Page

Hey guys,

The finished up my first squeeze page using optimezepress. I'm targeting job seekers as my niche. My question is this...

Is getting their name in addition to their email address important? Long term I'd like to start sprinkling affiliate links into the emails once I have a decent subscriber base. I feel like my opt in rate might be a little higher without asking for a name. Thoughts?

With Job Seekers, name is not so important if you are coming across as a professional Agency. I killed it with Job data and credit reports in the past.

Great thanks for the tip... I'm going to remove the name request.

IF you want to personalize your emails with an autoresponder such as iContact, Get Response, Aweber etc...then yes I suggest collecting at the very least their first name. Statistically email open rates are higher when recipients see their first name in the title.

I personally think getting a person's name is extremely valuable. When you think about it, is it better to have some spammy email title, or actually direct the email to the person using their name. I would be more prone to opening an email if it had my name on it, just saying.

    To clarify...

I'm using aweber. All subscribers will need to confirm their subscription to my list and are signing up for daily emails. My thought is that they know what's in their box every morning anyway, so having their name in the subject isn't really that important.

    Example:
Groupon... They don't have my name but their email comes every day so it doesn't really matter since I know what it is.

My only concern about the name was going to be further down the road for monetizing purposes. But even then, I don't see an issue. But then again I'm new at this so I appreciate all feedback.

Personally I'd get the name, I personally like to use there names in either the subject line or start or use it somewhere in the e-mail - it makes it seem more tailored to them..
