I am running a dating CPA that pays $3/lead. I have about 50 targeted keywords on Google, but most are not showing because I bid .50 and they need at least $1 to show on the first page (I also asked only for spots 3-8 as the gurus say...). Should I:
a. raise my bid prices and risk not making money b. find new keywords c. take off my position preferences and my ads will not show on page 1 which would stink. Thoughts?

I'd rather choose letter B you should find new keywords in order to get high sales. Or make a PPC on your dating site.

If you raise it to $1, that doesn't mean you are going to actually pay the dollar. You are saying you are willing to pay anything up to $1. Are your KW's in their own individual adgroup? I would take off the page preference and see what position you are getting without it. Put it back on later if you don't like the positions you are getting. What is the quality score on each KW? Your display URL, is it your own or a generic? Are you direct linking or iframe or landing page?

  • Are your KW's in their own individual adgroup? the KW are in one group.

What is the quality score on each KW? 7/10 for all

Your display URL, is it your own or a generic? I registered a domain just for this campaign.

Are you direct linking or iframe or landing page? landing page with link to offer page

It's better to separate your KW's into different adgroups. Ideally it is best to have 1 KW per adgroup. You can do that manually if you don't have a tool that does that for you. If not at least group them into common themes. You may need to increase your bid to get impressions. Try raising the bid and see how it works. Keep a close eye on it and see if it helps you get impressions. Make sure you put a daily limit on it so it doesn't get away from you while you are testing the bid prices.

Are you on the search network or content network?

Much cheaper clicks on googles' content network.

  • I"m on the search network right now. I raised my bid to $1 for all my KW's just to see what happens, and I've gotten a total of 4 clicks. Wahooooo! I have set a daily budget of $20 so this is a low cost lesson for me on how this works. I look at this as tuition in the school of IM. I am just tired of reading; I am now messing around with it to see if I can learn it.
