How much $$$ to start FB ads?

Hey all, I was just wondering, how much money do I need to save up to realistically start making profits with PeerFly through FB ads. I understand fully that it takes time to tweak and learn what works, but I wonder if anybody out there can give me an estimate of how much money I want to have saved up before I start, so that I don't run out of money before I start making profit.

Thank you

I had been doing affiliate marketing for 3 years when I started Facebook.

It took me 4 weeks and $2,000 to get it profitable.

It is really hard to tell how long it will take you because I don't know your starting skill-set.

But don't wait to start, try a free traffic source.

I've never made a single dollar online. How is that for a starting skill-set? Haha.

When you say don't wait, where can I find a free traffic source? Surely there is no company who lets you run ads for free!

I'm not concerned over how long it will take me, just more with the amount of cash I want to start out with

Facebook can be rough starting place, they are strick on LPs and Ads. Which can be frustrating for a beginner because you'll spend more time dealing with FB politics then running your Ads.

I would recommend Plenty of Fish Ads. Its great for beginners.

Regarding Free Traffic sources, just do search google or WF and you'll find them. Youtube for example is a very popular one.

You say you never made sign dollar online, but can you work a FTP client and program HTML/CSS?

Greedy said it already, but 2k is around what I recommend most people have to start testing the waters.

You can start with $500. Many of the biggest CPAers I know started with well less than that. It's not as much about how much you have, but about how diligently you approach your campaign.

In fact, sometimes having less, forces you to test, track and optimize better (because you have to!) and that can actually help. I see this all the time...somebody has 10 grand and just blows through it in a week. This isn't like some things where you can just throw money at it and it will eventually work.

It's more about the process than the money...so there isn't an "ideal" cap spend to have, just whatever you have, use it as if every dollar is the last dollar you have. Track, test, optimize, analyze, repeat, repeat, repeat

I'd say $500 would be a start, I wouldn't expect to see profits but it would be a good start to see if you're catching on

So are you suggesting instead of starting IM in FB ads I should start with PoF? Is this the general consensus? I had my sights set on FB ads but if it's easier to have success with PoF than I can switch gears

POF is an easier platform to begin with, and initial costs are lower.
You can get cheaper clicks on Facebook, but you must front a bit of cash and a lot of work to get there. Not to mention, the targeting on POF is fantastic.

For what it's worth, I would start a very small daily budget.

Now this is typically converse to what most people will tell you; but remember that you can spend money unfathomably fast with paid traffic.

If you spend $100 a day, and don't make a penny, odds are; are you going to make anything the next day with the same campaign?

What if you spend $1,000 on a campaign without results? Would it be wise to continue with that campaign? Food for thought.

My advice, is to start very small; $10 per day; begin measuring the quantity of clicks you get and if possible track their actions after they click upon your destination.

You'll find ad budgets to be a topic of conjecture; one thing remains certain, however; you absolutely must track all of your statistics.

Even if your campaign is a miserable failure, at least if you track your clicks; you've purchased something.

You've purchased your data, which is more valuable than the majority of smalltime marketers realize.

Tracking is what separates the men from the boys.

Good luck. And remember what Mr. Rohn says.

Very good advice, thank you very much. If I could just ask one more (small ) favor, could you point me in a direction where I can educate myself about tracking clicks?

Sorry, but this makes no sense.

If you send $10 in day you are going to test 2 ad creatives.

        With $100 a day you'll test 20 ad creatives.

The thing is you are going to need to test 20 creatives either way. It doesn't matter if you do $10 over 10 days, or $100 over 1 day.

Doing $10 a day is bad because you'll be moving way too slow. Offers can get canceled, stats are less accurite ect...

$10 a day isn't going to save you any money.

In general you need a bit of money to play with for the simple fact that you may fail...

One common misconception I see is "Well as long as I have 10 I can keep growing that budget" - however if you only have $10 what happens if you lose it right away? Always go a bit over budget so you have money to play around with.
