Playing around with FB ads...dumb question.

stupid question...

can you create an ad to only target people who have liked a page.

just for giggles say you want to only target people who have "liked" a page about bright green widgets, with ads about bright green widgets.

is that possible?

the interests thing seems to only be related to stuff theyve done in their profile, im far more interested in targetting pages theyve already liked.

is that doable? why am i an idiot for not being able to figure out how to do this.

Yes you can target people according to interests. It's in advanced targeting options on fb ads

Hey Matt, based on what i've read the "interests" tab is basically pulling info from the persons profile. so for example, my personal profile has my interests as hockey, but nowhere does it show that i've liked a page about, say, green energy. i'd be a great target for ads on green energy, but you wouldn't know that based on the interests i've filled out on my FB page.

it would seem stupid to not be able to do that, but from what I can tell,....you can't

yeah, the connections i believe is only ppl connected to pages you yourself have created, not people who have liked a page someone else has created.

Totally know what you mean, and cannot be absolutely sure, but...

I remember targeting people who were interested in quite obscure things like 'low testosterone' and such on facebook.

Maybe the 'like' and interests are merged?

Another example: for targeting niche religion dating group on facebook, I've found and targeted those whose interests were related to that religion. For example, for Muslim dating it is quite easy, there are plenty of people who apparently 'like' Islam and plenty of other related topics.

So try it dude, and see what happens.

From what I read in the Perry Marshall Facebook Advertising book you can only target people who Like a page YOU own and control. So I believe the correct answer here is no.

Now, you can target people with interests similar to those who like a page you want to target.
