New Display ad, first one

Hi, I was hoping to get some opinions on types of display ads that work, from more experienced marketers that use display ads.

After watching a webinar last night and seeing some ads that worked, I was surprised.
The ones shown were all outrageous types of pictures that seemed almost hard to believe. almost like BS. Like a before after of a guy that got ripped in 30 days.
My first ad was set to be just mainly text with my pic, and some down to earth copy. (it's in approval process presently) But after seeing that webinar , now I think my ad might suck, if it takes a wild outrageous picture in order to get it clicked on.

So now, my second choice was going to be a sort of hot girl, profile, from shoulders up, with a look that matches my head line.

Any opinions or thoughts on this subject?
I'm using google adwords.
as always love the opinions I get in here. thanks
john

You've got to use eye catching ads. That are within Google's guidelines.

Made a bunch of ads and split test them all at the same time to see which one does best.

That is the best way to go about it.

It seems like the ad is really what drives the traffic, so the ad is priority 1. Without traffic, ya got squat. Should say I got squat if not traffic.

In that case, just build your creatives around each site. Look at the site content, layout, colors, interest, and build your ad around it.

Think about it this way. Imagine you're browsing the warrior forum and you see an ad:

"Best Advice for Stocks - Check it out"

And then you see another ad built around the website:

"Member of WarriorForum Makes $XXXX stock broking....."

I'm pretty sure that the second one with vastly outperform the first one, since it caters to the audience, and uses something you know about the audience, which in this case is the fact that they're members of the warriorforum.

Use the same principle for your 10 stock broking sites.

I agree and don't put too much information. Leaving them hanging will drive them to check you out. Your images shouldn't steal the spotlight and prevent people from focusing on the content.
