Landing pages and 404 errors

I just discovered an alarming statistic from checking my HostGator records on the domain that I use for my CPA landing pages: In the month of May, I had 505 unique visitors (10,861 hits) to my domain...but I also had 127 hits to my "404 Document Not Found" page.

Does this seem excessive, or is it par for the course with paid CPA traffic? I'm confident that none of my POF ads are linking to dead pages, and I've never gotten a 404 error myself when viewing my landing pages.

Is this something I should be worried about, and if so, what's the best way to deal with it?

You should check what the 404s are for. Sometimes it's for favicons, etc and not really for missing pages. Check your stats.

Do you know what your 404 errors are from? Finding this out would be the first step.

Ah, I figured it out. It was just some old Javascript code that was left over from an old version of one of my landing pages. It looks like no users actually saw the 404 error page.

      That's a relief.
