Hi all,

Are you familiar with Facebook ads that are run through "Automatically optimize my budget to get more clicks"

I am running a MaxBounty offer for $1.40 and I was wondering how long I should allow this ad to run before I decide that the ad won't work.

Here are my stats today. This is the first day of the ad so I don't expect Facebook to optimized anything yet.

Campaign Reach?
388
Frequency?
1.6
Clicks?
1
Click-Through Rate?
0.160%
Total Spent?
$0.11

Personally I always bid manually and I use CPM because if you test the images/ad copy properly you can get a higher CTR and at a cheaper cost than if you were to pay CPC.

I test at least 10 images with the same ad copy over a 24 hour period to determine which image got the highest CTR.

Then I use the same image and test 10 different versions of the ad copy over a further 24 hour period and pick the one with the highest CTR.

Then combine the two and run the campaign for a bit longer to see hot it performs.

Consider increasing bid/daily budget to get more volume but testing is crucial to Facebook success.

I always use manual cpc. Depending on how big of an audience you are targeting, your clickthrough rate can drop pretty quickly. If you only pay for clicks, you have better control over how much you are spending.

I will also try cpm tomorrow. Can e-mail submits make money on Facebook or is it too risky with the low payout?

I don't promote email-submits personally but be careful of the scrub rates therefore making paid advertising a bit risky for that sort of offer.

But I'm no expert - there may well be others doing it successfully.

Would you recommend me running dating offers instead?

Dating offers do well on Facebook.

You have to put yourself in the position of a FB user and think what 'mode' they are in when they are on Facebook.

Facebook users probably aren't in the mode to buy things so joining game sites, dating sites and other 'activity' based offers are probably best but again nothing beats testing.

Thanks for your help. I will try to run a dating offer from PeerFly on Tuesday. The current eCPC is $0.75 I will try to pay $0.08 per click with Facebook. Hopefully it works out well

IMO you should manually do this opposed to letting facebook do this.

Are you testing different ad copies? Id normally spend what the offer pays per ad (sometimes 2x depending on how long it takes) to test, if there is at least one conversion then I'd continue.
