CPA Question: Is It Illegal To ....

Hey Everyone,

I have never worked with CPA networks before but someone who has
been declined by a cpa network is offering me money to sign up under there name for the CPA network but do the talking so that they will get accepted.

Is this against the CPA TOS / is this illegal.

I really don't want to get into any trouble or do anything illegal
but i looked through some of the popular CPA network sites and
found nothing in the TOS though they are long and boring so I
could have easily missed something.

Thanks in advanced,

Eric

Wow - There are lots of reasons not to get involved with this.

    1) It doesn't make sense. There is nothing stopping this person from applying to any network as a company using an EIN. The cost of him setting up a DBA sole-proprietor (almost nothing) has to be less then you would charge him.

    2) If he has been declined before then the networks (and most likely Direct Track) have his social security number on file and quite probably flagged. That would mean he will either need to use yours, or use a fake / inappropriate one in your name!!! Not to mention the fact that the network is going to be paying tax in your name and mailing the tax paperwork in your name.

    3) It would have to be against the TOS. They are all very dull and long winded so I am not going to go re-read any now, but there has to be something in there about that.

    4) If an attorney and or government agency ever gets mad at you they could kinda sorta claim you are committing fraud. You are knowingly providing false information to this business in order to receive money. **I seriously doubt this would ever happen** but my friend would have to be offering a butt-ton of cash for me to consider it.

Why even ask this question? I'm sure you knew the answer before you even asked it.

It is outright fraud. the person may have been declined to right reasons. he/she may not be running legitimate traffic.
