[TIP] FB Ads - Newsfeed vs. Right Side

Warriors,

I'm not going to get into this too deeply, but I do want to give you guys a quick tip in understand the main difference between Newsfeed and Right Side ads on FB.

Right Side Ads: The original FB ads that started it all.

These ads tend to have the best quality because typically, the people who click on them are super bored and could be actually interested in what you are trying to sell them.

Tough to get over 1% CTR. CPCs can vary between 5-20 cent for dating and diet campaigns.

Newsfeed Ads: New to FB. Gaining in popularity.

But these ads do not have the same quality as the Right Side ads. The reason behind this is because people sometimes mistakenly click on the ads or they think it's their friend's photos, etc.

Easy to get over 1% CTR. Sometimes as high as 12%. But this does not mean you are going to pay penny clicks. CPC is still inline with right side ads. 5-20 cents for dating and diet campaign.

The main benefit with Newsfeed ads is the fact that they have a TON more volume.

If you have a profitable Right Side ad campaign - you can scale to Newsfeed ads. Just watch your ROI!

My advice is test new campaigns with Right Side ads.

Good luck!

I have had a lot of success with one offer, using newsfeed ads. Have tested some other things, but got too many likes and not link clicks. Also, negative comments on your ad can really hurt your click through rate.

Great points. There is a way to make images clickable in the newsfeed. You need to be on top of comments and delete/bad negative ones straight away.

Hi Jon,Thanks for sharing your views.Yes we can see the rise of ads in newsfeed section.Problem is many people sometimes skip those ads in newsfeed section. And as you said right side is still best to place an ad.Still its a matter of testing for the advertisers to see which section works best not in terms of clicks only but also from the conversion perspective.

Agreed. All it really comes down to is money in money out. Are you profitable? That's it.

    This is absolutely true.
One hour of a day got me 23% CTR with newsfeed. Very targeted and got profitable but then it dialed down. It all boils down to testing eventually.
Newsfeeds are more unpredictable and the usual ads arent in my experience

Right, always start with right-side ads and scale to newsfeed once profitable and maxed out.
