If I were to buy a country/region domain such as a .fr, what would be the bonuses to having that instead of just a .com?

Would it help me get more traffic from france?

    What about Organic search SEO? Would you 301 such domain to .com? will benefit .com in .fr search results? Or what is the best way to get the local results bonus to my .com domain?

    It depends on the visitors, I know for me a .ca campaign has no more relevance than a .com domain. IMO I don't think it would help much if any.
