Hello all,

Been awhile since I've been on the forums. I recently took everyone's advice and decided I'm going to build a list. I'm currently using aweber and have a list of a whopping 2 subscribers.

I bought Fergal Downes' abc email marketing course and while it was helpful, it doesn't so a ton in the ways of my niche. I'm in the Health & Fitness/ Weight Loss niche and I'm really struggling to be able to build my list. Which gets to my questions, what kind of networks would you guys recommend to build your list?

I've tried PPC and my adwords account was banned years ago so that's out, I've been on bing for awhile now but keyword competition is going to kill me in the weight loss niche. I'm considering Facebook ads at the moment. I ran POF for awhile and I'll probably try that again because this is my first time with a squeeze page, I think I could probably get more conversions through that.

I tried finding solo ads but there's very few for weight-loss, one guy wanted $750 and the rest not only look questionable but want .50 cents per click with a $400 minimum. (And obviously my list is too small to do any swapping)

I'm looking into CPM, CPL, and CPV a little bit, but most of what I've found in the ways of reviews has said that the quality of traffic is very poor.

And so, I leave it to the warriors, what can you guys recommend for my lost cause?

    Sorry just updating here:

    Thoughts on Looksmart or Exoclick?
I've heard looksmart can get me a great CPC but I'm a little worried about the quality of the traffic.

And I just found exoclick... doesn't look too bad. Retargeting available on a CPM model might not be bad

There are a few solutions that i can think of off the top of my head:

    1) Do a search on Google for Weight Loss Newsletter (and similar terms) to find blogs that have an opt-in list. Than contact the owner of the site, and see if you can purchase a solo ad for a more affordable price.

    2) Create some type of mini guide with tips and tricks, and give it out for free in exchange for the opt-in. If you do not want to create your own product there are plenty of PLR products in that niche. To generate traffic you can use some of the paid methods you mentioned above or free ones like: article marketing, blogs posts in relevant forums while having your mini-guide in your signature, craigslist, youtube video marketing etc...

    3) Create a weight loss Product, and put it on Clickbank, make sure that you have opt-in on your sales page, so even if the people dont purchase your product they will still be forced to give their email. Also by creating a product, if done correctly you will have handfuls of affiliates driving traffic to your sales / opt in page.

    4) As you probably know creating a list in the IM niche is probably the easiest compared to other niches. This is of course if you have interest in this niche.

All the traffic sources you mentioned above are very capable of helping build your list, but you must test, test, test to find a squeez page that works (Again good to have a free giveaway)These are just a few suggestions that i hope can help spark some ideas for you.

    Thanks for the help,

I currently have a squeeze page offering a weight loss e-book that truthfully isn't much. I think I'll look into the PLR product and see if I can work something out there. As far as emailing other blogs owners I'm waiting on responses from 10-15 of them.

I think I'll try to run some tests and see what I can accomplish in this niche. Worst case scenario I'll try to build an IM list, might be a better starting point.

    Thanks again for the help!
